I think it was 85/86 as that was the season Nivgel Stevenson was with us and he gave away the penalty that led to them coming back and stuffing us.

You're thinking of the 98/99 season. The game at Brentford was on a Bank Holiday Monday over Christmas. They beat us 1-0.

The date was 28/12/1998.

My mistake.

Stevenson came on loan that season and then came back for 2 more later on 87-89.

We missed out on going to Wembley for the Mercantile Credit Classic because of that result.

Partly the reason wy we had such a big following there - all singing Wembley at the start and when things were going well, went abit tits up afterwards.

Lost 4-1 and City fans invading Orient home stands and the pitch.

Heman Hreidarsson scored their goal. Leo Fortune-West was one of their subs. Lloyd Owusu was their main man.

I remember arriving at Griffin Park, taking one look at the queues outside the City end and heading straight for the home section of the Grandstand. I got in with no bother, but several of my mates who queued for the City end didn't see the game.

I ended up in the home section as well, no chance in the away section that day. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Was that the game where we had about 3,000 locked outside?

I thought that was the first or one of the first games Sam ever saw us play, and decided that any team that could take so many away was worth looking at, but I guess you'd know more about that.

I remember that one too (Brentford xmas 98) I was working for a company based in Watford and offered to work the half day on double time and a day in lieu....... Hence, my petrol paid for by the company :D , Half a day's work for a days pay :D , a day off to further soften the blow :D , and a 15 minute drive to get over to the game :D :D :D . Never seen so many City fans swarming around a ground - Nice day too as I remember........ Apart from the result that is, TYPICAL CITY

As for Orient, was there for that one also, another nice sunny day with Wembley beckoning - More action in the stands than from our 11, as we threw the game in no time.....fair bit of nonsense outside too. Another typical defeat when there was a pot of gold at the end...4-1. Gutted

Having said all that, those were the days :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:
