WHO DO YOU THINK HAS HAD THE BIGGEST IMPACT ON THE WORLD OF FOOTBALL AND WHY?



They are all from different eras so it is hard to judge.

For me it has to be Beckham. Maybe not the best football out of these lot but the one i feel has had the greatest impact.

Pele [60's 70'] maradona [80's 90's] Beckham & Ronaldo 2000 +. George Best, the best player never to have played in a World cup.

I went for Maradona he was truly a special player and could turn the game on his own.. And he done it in 3 world cups..

No I know he has been a great player but I dont think as much of an impact YET as the other 5 have. Give Messi another 1-3 years.

Maradona virtually won 86 World Cup on his own, led a crap Argies team to 1990 final and helped Napoli lift Serie A title. Also a raving lunatic who I would love to see manage us, if Dave Jones jacks it in.

I read an article in The Times last Saturday before the England v USA game. They had compiled a list of the most effective players in terms of passes completed, shots on target, assists, goals, pitch positioning and all sorts of other variables to decipher who was the best player ever to grace the World Cup.

It was a great read but ive lost the paper now. They used Opta stats index to study every minute of every World Cup since 1960 and found that the most effective players over the year's were,

1. Diego Maradona
2. Johan Cryuff
3. Pele
