Not surprising. 25 goals in Championship and only £1.75M!!!!

It's a fair price as he only has 1 year left on his contract.

They nor any other club can have him he will be signing a new contract. We should not consider selling any of our better players to any one of our Championship rivals

Will he be signing a new contract? Who knows. The longer it gets left, the more chance of a Britton and ideally Pratley situation as the Jacks have had.
There are two transfer windows left. Whitts has 1 season left. Sell now, you get the most for him. Leave till January, highly risky as if a new contract hasn't been signed by then, chances are almost certain he'd leave on a free in the summer.
As for not selling to rivals, sorry, but teams don't have that option. if, for example, the only team meeting our valuation of Chops was a rival, then not selling him means less money to strengthen the squad with. Cutting nose off to spite face.

He won't have another 25 goal season though will he? It's unlikely anyway. Think about all the times where he just went missing or was like a pansy about the field. Bedore last season most would have been happy for him leave. Take the money, say £2million all upfront, and use it to get Bellamy.

So you'd rather the risk he leaves on a free then, hmm?
He can be offered a contract. He may well feel he can get better money elsewhere.
Anyone seriously believes one season of Whittingham playing then leaving for nothing is better than say £2m= to allow replacements to be bought is quite frankly certificable, especially given it would be incredibly unlikely he'll get anywhere near the same number of goals next season. Scott Murray ring any bells?

He will be staying. why would he want to leave for another championship club. Now if a Premier league club came in for him, that's a different matter. I have every faith in TG and Co. Cardiff City are going places and anybody who leaves wants their heads read.Who says he wont get as many goals, he may get more, he is a player on the upgrade anyone who knows football can see that.

He may want to stay. He may not want to stay. You don't know, I don't know. It's as simple as that.
ANY contract needs to be sorted out now because otherwise his value to us plummets.
On the upgrade? Maybe. Maybe not. There were still plenty of game where he went missing. The difference this season was the system allowed him to get into the right place at the right time, plus taking penalties... as I said, a similar thing happened with Scott Murray where he scored, what, 27 from midfield, one season? Look at the other seasons goal totals.
I'd very much doubt, if he doesn't want to stay, we'd be able to use the bargaining tactic in January of "hey, he scored 27 las t season, if he fggoes to you he may score 50, we want squillions..."

I am sure TG and the Malaysians have everything in hand (they have been very thorough in everything they have done to date) and they would not be so stupid as to sell our best assets.
Thu Jun 17, 2010 9:35 am
How? Do you expect the Malaysians to continually fund the club from their own pockets?
The club, long term, has to be self-sustaining. Ridders has spunked income streams away...
We are, like the overwhelming number of teams playing, still a selling club. The difference is we can now at least maximise the mmoney we get for players.
If we get offers that we agree with, players will be sold. It's as simple as that.

Nice to know that the club ain't messing around anymore and have their valuations high for players who can make a difference next season. Well done CCFC

They have not funded the club from their own money, they now own a large portion of shares in the club in exchange for cash, these are very shrewd businessmen they are not going to lose any money on this venture. Yes Ridsdale has spunked a chunk of our income streams away, however the Malaysians have also successfully renegotiated much of our debts down to a manageable amounts and surprise surprise they actually have a marketing strategy which will no doubt provide us with additional income streams. Have a bit of faith in them, we are not being run by Walter Mitty characters here, these are very very successful people and will get us where we want to be. Yes, it may take time, however I dont think they will be selling our best assets to do so, they would be foolish if they did.
