I bought an old Mondeo for the wife at Newport Auctions about 4 years ago. Got myself a good deal, but you have to go early to check out the best options, by checking the bodywork, mileage etc. You need to do some research before you go, like checking out their going rate. You can do this online quite easily and
http://www.parkers.co.uk/ is one of many sites to check before you buy. There's also a review of old cars link there as well.
You'll also have to take certain paperwork with you, like a proof of identity for example, possibly your driving licence and obtain insurance for the vehicle you purchase, before you are allowed to drive the car away. Think you also have to pay commission on the car you purchase as well. Good luck.
