Would love Howard to come as back up to Jay but at £500k that seems like a non story (I HOPE)
at 34 it should be on a free or a minimal fee.

For a back up to Jay then I say yes.

But it's not exactly planning for the future is it and £500k is a hell of a lot for a player who is 34 yrs old. I would hope there is a young hungry striker out there who we could possibly loan in for that amount with a possible view to buying.

I've never been convinced by the Howard story. He's a big target man, we always seem to be in the market for a big target man, so the journalists put two and two together. According to the press, Jones was supposed to be trying to sign him from Luton before he went to Derby, and then from Derby before he went to Leicester. They have been claiming we are trying to sign him since the moment we knocked Leicester out of the play-offs.

Every summer it's the same story - City are trying to sign Steve Howard. We never seem to make a bid though!

etc etc

Howard would answer these obvious problems from last year,

He would make a huge difference for a season, I say sign him up, He caused Carnage in our defence in the play off at Ninian park. Good short term signing I say.
