Dave Jones' post match interview analysis

Mon Dec 28, 2009 7:36 pm

Cardiff City boss Dave Jones:

"The mentality at the moment is not to see out the game and people will say "how did you go to West Brom and Middlesbrough and see it out?", but they thought they'd won it today.

- Well isn't it your JOB to make sure at half time you drill into their heads that they've got to keep their performance going, not to let them think they've "Won it" and to motivate them to maybe even put some more goals in?

"Against West Brom and Middlesbrough they didn't think they'd won it. They had to battle. Today they didn't do the shift that we demand and expect of them."

- Mr.Jones, they seemed to put the correct shift in, in the first half so please explain why you couldn't get them to maintain that level of performance?

"And that's the most disappointing thing for me, by far. I don't berate my players in public, but today they deserve all the berating that can be thrown at them because they let everybody down. They let the fans down, they let me down, they let the staff down and more importantly they let themselves down in the second half.

-So what you're saying here is that its entirely the players fault, and not one bit of it yours? Are you seriously that dull enough to make us think that all the work should be done by the players, if so- what are you here for?

"In the first half it was just one-way traffic. It was pure domination and it is a hard pill for me to swallow."

-Again sir, you fail to explain to us how they didn't carry out the performance they gave in the first half to the second half, but please take the pill, not this one but a lethal one. Cheers mate.

What I fail to comprehend is that Jones can still blame the players, when even after Peterborough had pulled 2 goals back, he still had time to take stock of the situation and say "Why have they pulled back 2 goals?". There was still plenty of time in the game to match the midfield changes and stop them dominating the game. Ledley and Rae were totally outplayed in the middle, yet he still failed to change the formation to match them. I am totally amazed. The buck has to stop with Dave Jones. He is a tactical GENI-ARSE!!!!.

What he could have done when they were 2 goals back in, or three goals, was play a 5-3-2 formation to ensure their goal scoring chances were slim, but no, he'd prefer to lose apparently.

spot on baker, the man is a total cock.

Why did he also bring on Chopra when we were already defensively weaker with the introduction of Paul QUIMM?!.

His inabillity to adapt to the game as it evolves in front of him will ruin our season again. Too many dropped points against struggling teams to mount a real push. These are the games that should be 3 points in the bloody bag!.

Even Jason Perry was fuming, even at 1-4 he saw what was coming and said what needed to be done.
That is why its a hard pill to swallow every team we play if they go even one up they shut up shop. Why cant this buffon do the same.

Dave Jones, it seems, lacks in intelligence to make the correct changes and adaptions to our formation to enable us to get a good result out of most games like these. What the guy doesn't lack in, however, is smugness and ego.

Must be a recorded interview, its his standard reply to a game lost that should have been won.

You know what he does don't you? When the interviewer asked Dave, "So Dave, what are your thoughts on today?"

He pulls out a tape recorder with a tape inside of an interview of the last time we lost and just presses play and stands there.

more comments from the best manager in the championship  “It was all down to players not doing what they had been told to do,” Jones said. “They thought the game was already done and dusted and far too many switched off. I have never been involved in anything like that before in my life. We said all the right things to them at half-time, but too many of them decided to do it their way — and they were totally wrong.”
and more - Cardiff boss Dave Jones was left fuming at the final whistle, after seeing two vital points slip, and revealed that he had given his players a tongue-lashing.

He said: "I can safely say I have never been involved in anything like this before. Peterborough were dead and buried until we let them back into the game.

"We had players thinking the game was over and not doing their jobs in the second half. None of us saw this coming after what happened in the first period.

"The players were told they had to continue doing things the right way, but it seems they felt there was another way and it all comes down to mentality.

"We should have won both games against Plymouth and Peterborough but have ended up with only one point.

"The players have been told in no uncertain terms that is not good enough and they will continue to be told again and again."

Same old bollocks blaming the players again. Yes they need to take some responsibility but when is this man going to take some responsibility himself?

You are all talking shit - Do you think at half time DJ said go out there and let them come back to four each - No he would have said keep playing the way you are - Its the players mindset that needs to be changed

see the other post for other reasons why we lost the game

i'd rather see Jason managing us and Jones in the commentary - i could turn the f*cking volume down then and not have to put up with the shit he spouts after a game.

The guy is quite seemingly flawless according to his reflection in the changing room mirror.
