The irony is that in 2005, Sam's answer to the many problems he was encountering at CCFC at the time was ....... to employ Peter Ridsdale!
We can't blame anyone else for Ridsdale's arrival at the club. That was very much Sam's work.
Under the circumstances, do you honestly reckon his return would be a good idea?
I'm talking about Sam, not Peter.

I hold Sam in high regard despite the mess he ended up making of things here. You know that. But I don't think him returning to the club would be good for anyone - not for the club, not for the fans and not for the man himself.
Far too much water has gone under the bridge and too many people believed too much bullshit around the time of his departure. He wouldn't be welcomed back here by the majority of fans, that's for sure. If it hadn't been for the Lnagston court case, then perhaps. But that finished it for a lot of people.

Your thread would intimate you'd blame Hammam for that...
On topic, Hammam backin place of Jenkins, Malaysians managing the finances.

Sam and Langstones are then happyish about the debts their owed, getting more shares etc, with the Malaysians putting in more cash as we go along ?
Hate politics love the club, I am on the right lines with this theory or not ?

1) Sam. With very good reason.
2) Sam isn't CEO material. Far from it. He's always employed other people to run his club on a day-to-day basis. Here, it was Temme followed by Ridsdale.
3) A finance director has been employed to manage the finances. And we had one of those during Sam's time, too.

I've spoken to Sam on numerous occasions since he stepped down as Chairman. You know that. In fact, the last time I spoke to him was during the middle of last week. And he's told me all sorts of things over the years.
Nevertheless, I don't believe his return here would do any of us any good - least of all the man himself. By the time he left here last time around, he wasn't a well man. He looked greatly improved when I last saw him though. While I have no doubt he misses being involved here, life away from CCFC seems to suit him.

Apart from experience of running a football club, dealing with agents etc.
We haven't got ANYONE in the club who can do that at the moment.

1) Indirectly, sure. You could argue that point, but it stretches credibility to imply Hammam brought Ridsdalein as a consultant to deliberately replaced him as chairman later on.
2) In a traditional business, no. Football wise, however, CEO could well be a title offered by the Malaysians. Interesting you seem to indicate Hammam was handsoff in his approach...
3) And in Hammam's time, he had access to the cheque book. Give Hammam a football brief, ensure he's fully segregated from the finances, ie negotiate contracts,Malaysians handle the finances, reduces the problems.

How do we know no one has this experience? Jenkins must of dealt with rugby agents, he knows how to run a sporting club although on a smaller scale.
The guy has only been there for 5 weeks, give him a chance to sort things out.

1) Directly, for sure. Bear in mind I was one of those who was spending a great deal of time with Sam during the period when he stepped down. At the time, he maintained that he had insisted on Ridsdale being made Chairman as a condition of the deal that saw him resign. He rated Ridsdale very highly at that stage, I can assure you.
Obviously Ridsdale was a con man with his eye on more than just chairman , he duped Sam into thinking how good he could be which worked . Everybody from Leeds and Barnsley warned us about him , but somehow he managed to spin Sam I reckon ?
2) He was hands-on in his approach in many respects, but the nitty gritty day-to-day was left to other people. He used to tell me what an incredible workaholic Ridsdale was - first into work, last out, etc. To a large degree he was running the club during Sam's final year here, and before him Temme did a lot of wrok in his role as CEO. Sam used to describe himself as an ideas man. The impression I got was that he used to leave others to put those ideas into to practice once he'd dreamed them up.
3) I'm not sure what role people have in mind for Sam if he returned, but CEO would not be a good idea.

I do think the club lack someone with football contacts at the club now that PR has left and Sam sure does have
Him taking control of contracts would worry me tho I still have nightmares about Thorne getting 10k per goal .
All in all I dont want him back but if it means the club can continue to trade at a decent level then I can see some positives if he can be kept under control.
Quite funny reading all this now though as im half way through reading Annis book "shattered dreams to Wembley way".
