Do you think that HMRC would have launched a high court petition if the payment wasn't overdue?

It said in preperation of it being late?
I don't know that's why I'm asking.

Ok not exact words but

"Chief exec Gethin Jenkins said: "HMRC has launched a petition in the event we don't pay the PAYE bill. We are confident of settling it in the next couple of days."

From NOTW

Which in no way says it isn't already late, just that he expects it will be paid.

And if he expects it to be paid we won't see any court action? So what's the problem?

I don't mind people having a go at him for certain things but people are nit picking and it's coming across desperate to prove a point.

His expecting it to be paid is neither here nor there really though is it? It's the actual paying of it that matters.

I can completely understand why this wasn't mentioned to the Trust as the club has to be able to operate as a business without all it's dirty washing being aired in public (despite the actions of some on this site) but if this petition has been issued as the report suggests then as is the League rule, the club will be under a transfer embargo. Gethin Jenkins directly denied this was the case, albeit it answer to a different question regarding an embargo (i.e. transfer payments not made) so if it transpires the club is under an embargo, he misled the fans surely?

Surely we wouldnt be under an embargo until the august date when they take us to court?

IMO Jenkins has done nothing wrong in this matter yet, unless im wrong about the above.

The League puts an embargo in place as soon it is aware a club is behind in a tax payment.

As I said earlier, I can't imagine that HMRC would serve a petition on a company just on the off chance a payment may be late, they don't work that way.

You don't get a notice saying your being taken to the High Court unless you've missed a payment.

I dunno how it works so if you know better thats fine.

With bills you get final reminders, red bills etc etc im not saying this is the same, i just dont know.
