" SAMMY AMEOBI? "
Russell Slade talks about on loan Premier League player Sammy Ameobi.
Ameobi's year long loan at Cardiff City finishes next month.
Russell Slade:"An enigma is probably the best way to describe Sammy Ameobi".
Sammy has fantastic ability, we watch him in training every day, but not always has he transferred that to the pitch. Occasionally he has, and you think, wow, why’s he not in the side, then within a week he goes out and performs and everyone says, that’s why he’s not in the side. It’s about consistency with Sammy. He has the ability.

Spot on. Not mentally strong enough to find the consistency needed to warrant starting every week.

Slade is spot on, but once again I'm wondering whether his brutal assessment of one of our players belongs in a public forum...

He hasn't started him for enough games to give the lad a chance has he been worse than noone hmmm

At least Noone works hard during the game and he can be as frustrating sometimes. Slade has summed Amoebi up perfectly and normally I would disagree with the summary being made public but as Amoebi is very unlikely to be here next season,I don't see it as a massive problem.

Slade has done this with other players though hasn't he? He makes some player confidence destroying comments almost to help him justify his team selection to the media, to get them off his back.

A flop had high hopes for him.

Right down there with JLloyd Samuel and Ross Turnbull as one of the worst loan signings and biggest wastes of money in the recent past.
What's the point of a professional footballer who cannot play 90 minutes because of his medical conditon?
Might as well find another profession.
It's like me turning up for my 9-5 job everyday at about 3.30pm because I can't work all day!

KWest,
Fair point,

Up there with the best. JET, JLS, Eddie Johnson, Iwan Redan, Kelvin Etuhu, Stuart Taylor, et al.

Doesn't fit into our system in my opinion, isn't a winger in a 442 and not a striker. Probably fit into wide in a 433

What is the point in him?
Sat Apr 23, 2016 4:51 pm
hes so shite !!!!!!

I think he was sent here to get some game time for next season when Newcastle are relegated, hes PANTS whoever thought he was a good signing for us couldnt have seen him play, he is finished after a few mins got no final pass.

He wanted to score 20 goals this season, yet on today's evidence there's no instinctive striker in him at all. Would rather lose the ball with a pass, when he should just be having a crack.

He looks shot of confidence although he looks another JET or Kelvin Ethuru not good enough for a top half championship team.
Maybe he has just realised.
