Both have one of the biggest fan bases in the world, If they were in the premiership they would attract better players and more than likley do well, Not many great players want to play in scotland
Sun Jul 18, 2010 7:03 pm
If they have one of the biggest fan bases in the world why do they only sell out for a hand full of games a year??

Both massive clubs. If they had the money that EPL have, within a few years, they'd be right up there.
People think Newcastle pull in great crowds. But Rangers and Celtic pull in 50,000 a week. Not bad.
Sun Jul 18, 2010 7:08 pm
Celtic and Ranger would be Everton standard I think. Not quite the big 4 but competitive

Thats rubbish mate, Celtic have a waiting list for season tickets and I would imagine Rangers have the same.
Did you see Celtics last game of the season.. Empty seats.. Most of their games have a large amount of empty seats..
Sun Jul 18, 2010 7:17 pm
celtic = big club 60,000 crowds, european football, cant blame joe for going there.
good luck ledley.

Neither have had waiting lists for years. Celtic constantly hound former ST holders to buy as they can't sell. Both struggled to sell out last season and reguarly play to 4 figure crowds away from home.
Newcastle crowds are on a par and all the EPL cash never did them any good.
I think both would struggle to break the top 8 to be honest.

its a shit league, the derby, celtic v rangers, is the higjhlight of the season, where you can meet up to 6 times a year, if it wasnt for the money, you might aswell join port talbot, for european football,

they would no probs, in the prem they would attract better players.

Yeah but the problem is they don't play in the EPL and won't attract better players, Their best player for ages was Kenny Miller he came to the EPL with Derby that's the biggest club that wanted him and he was shit, Then look at Kris Boyd the best striker in the Scottish Prem yet he's gone to a championship side, These all if's and but's if Rangers and Celtic as the fact is if they brought their current teams they would be champtionship side's in my opinion, They play in a piss poor league where anyone with any ambition I cannot see the attraction in going out and beating teams by 4 or 5-0 most week's how is that going to improve you as a player, I think Joe has made a massive mistake going their nothing to do with not getting nothing for him but purely on the development of his game he will be coming up against poor standards week in week out regardless of how many people are their to see him.

In the end yes they would but with there present squad they would be a Championship side. But with there history and massive support they would end up massive in the Prem. And Joe would be the first to be sold.

I'm not saying they aren;t bigger than Cardiff, I'm saying they are nowhere near as big as people make out. Anyone who puts them on a standing with the top sides in the premiership is deluded.
Ibrox and Parkhead were both half empty at times this past season, when do you ever see that at Old Trafford, Anfield and the like? If Liverpool struggle to compete in the EPL and Newcastle can get relegated, then how can folk declare that these two without a pot to piss in would compete?

Agreed. People think because Celtic are often in the Champions League they are like United and Chelsea but forget they usually get well beaten and hardly advance through. Like I said Everton standard

At best.

Its most Probabally down to being in a totally shit League. If they were in the Prem they would sell out every week. The end of the day they know they will finish 1st or 2nd in the SPL
Mon Jul 19, 2010 7:20 pm
I don't buy that when you have the self proclaimed best supporters in the world of Celtic.
Supporting your team is about being there all time is it not?
I live for the day neither wins the league and I don't think it is that far away anymore. Neither is anywhere near the biggest club in the world, they just have thousands of tag alongs.
Mon Jul 19, 2010 8:09 pm
Celtic.........Bath
Rangers......Swansea
Dundee United......Rhyl
Aberdeen......Abu Dabbi
Hearts........Wycome wanderers
Hibs........Grangetown

Say we was in a league like the SPL and for the last twenty years it was us and the Jacks finishing first and second, how much of that could you take ? But it would be fun playing the Gypos 4 times a year.

Swansea would be more like Falkirk or east fife-if anyone's been to either place they'll understand
Mon Jul 19, 2010 8:40 pm
Gretna accepts yr apologies. Falkirk and Methill (East Fife) are about to sue me for defamation of character.....
Mon Jul 19, 2010 8:59 pm
I think alot of SPL teams are underrated personally and alot of Championship teams are way way overrated
Think a good few in that league could more than hold their own in the Championship

Cowdenbeath was always the main culprit in my eyes, but Methil is up there!
