Not sure if this angle has been mentioned beofre, apologies if so, but doesn't selling Kennedy merely highlight the folly of giving the guy a new contract in the first place? Very few of us would have done so, especially given how tight finances are.

if he hadnt signed a new contract then he could have left on a free transfer , we dont want to be doing that do we ??

Indeed, it's with much relief we secured Kennedy's signing to reap the £75k fee we received rather than the £6m or so we could have got from tying Ledley to a new deal...!

Seriously though, not doubting Kennedy's a nice bloke, but why on earth was he given a contract for the season gone, let alone next season, is beyond me. Surely the several thousand pound he is on a week could be better utilised, potentially on someone who's transfer value could be a little more than £75k? Or, a little less romantic I know, but paying some bills perhaps?

It's fitting that Ridsdale's legacy is being shown in a more fitting light; a club massively in debt (even I was surprised it was an unbelievable £66m technicalities aside), a £6m player allowed to leave for nothing, a clutch of other top players with only a year left on their deals, an extortionate wage bill for players and staff, most notably the manager, and a board room in complete and utter meltdown. The mismanagement of the club has been laid bare for all to see of which the financial mismanagement is the most obvious and startling. Congratulations Mr Ridsdale, your deserved legacy is firmly in place.

Neil you could alomost have cut and paste that from Leeds Utd message board about 10 years ago , not as if CCFC was not told ! :ayatollah:

Good luck to Kennedy seemed a model pro that always give 100% however i think another season would possibly have been a season too far? So i'm pleased that we have got some money for him i think we should ask Ipswich to make the cheque out to Motherwell or Charlton :D

Jeff I personally thought last season he would have gone but at the mo any money in is better than nothing I suppose ?

I've never disliked Kennedy but have always felt we could get better in. He's done a job though and was superb in the closing stages last season. Seems like a genuinely nice guy so I wish him all the best. He'll leave with a good rep in my eyes. :ayatollah:

Love the quote from Kennedy.
As someone else pointed out its a shame Ledley couldn't have said something as half as positive.

Indeed. I make no apologies for giving the guy a chance initialy, though always remaining sceptical, and in truth he did a decent job for a small period and for a balanced opinion did do much good for the club too, but he clearly lived up to his reputation and arguably surpassed himself with the catastrophic damage he caused. What I find amusing is before his recent quiet period since leaving the club, his incessant appearances in the media, most notably a guest appearance on Radio 5, when he was virtually prostituting himself saying "Look how wonderful I am in making shitty little Cardiff City great on a shoe string budget with no debt!" Priceless. I get the feeling that while Riddler thought he was being very clever and thought that the media were interested in him and more pertinently believed him, all he was doing was making a fool of himself yet again. Riddler criticising how some people run football clubs (Riddler's appearance on Radio 5 was to get on his high horse about Portsmouth's problems would you believe) is akin to Harold Shipman passing verdict on GP's.

I remember him on TalkSport about a year ago when he was on the Danny Baker show. He gave all the crap about how Cardiff City would be debt free by now and how brilliant he was for arranging it all.

Danny Baker put a plea out to his audience and asked if anyone would like to ask Peter Ridsdale a question on football finances. Despite waiting over an hour not one person phoned in, reflecting just how much the football world believed his story.

I've been mostly impartial on Mark Kennedy, but was impressed with the way he took command in the play-off's and kept the players heads up (or tried his best to).

He was never a particularly BAD player for Cardiff, but there were better players in his suited positions.
