The real pound to ground scheme.

Wed Jul 28, 2010 6:38 pm

Cardiff City has offered the Pay the Players Appeal the opportunity to hold a bucket collection before the opening game of the 2010-11 season against Sheffield United.

The Bring a Pound to the Ground – And More! collection follows one at the Leicester City game in the Play-Off semi final which raised more than £2,500, or about 0.01% of the required payroll.

New CEO Gethin Jenkins has asked for City fans to volunteer to hold a bucket from 11am until 10 minutes before kick-off at the game on Sunday, August 8th. If you can help, please contact Gethin Jenkins on errm@ntlworld.com (Tel 029 20666666).

Jenkins said: “The club is really helping fundraising, because we need to beg to pay wages . We had been planning a bucket collection before Christmas but couldn't afford any buckets.

“As the game is season’s opener, there is likely to be a very good crowd so we would appreciate volunteers willing to hold a bucket. Free volunteers that is. Those wanting payment can join the queue.

“Fans were very generous when we held our last Golden Ticket collection and we hope they will again dig deep in their pockets.

“The fundraising appeal has got off to a good start but we need to maintain the momentum so we can maintain a squad of at least one non-Academy player”

• Donations to the appeal fund can be made through the Co-operative Bank:
Account name: - Pay Up Mugs or PUM
Account no 66666666
Sort Code 10-10-10

Cheques can also be sent c/o CCFC at the stadium. Please add the words "Cash" on the top of the cheque.
