BAD CUP DRAW OR JUST SIGN OF THE TIMES????

SHEFFIELD Wednesday will be up for the Cup on Saturday - but without the Kop.
The club have confirmed slow ticket sales resulted in the closure of the iconic Kop stand for their FA Cup third round encounter with Neil Warnock's Crystal Palace.

Some fans believe the closure will have a negative effect on the atmosphere.

More than 460 supporters were re-located to the South Stand before Kop sales were discontinued last week.

A spokesman said: "We have to justify the expenses and it costs a lot of money to put a football match on and that has to be balanced from the income we project from the game.

"Last week, the sales had been very slow for the Palace match, particularly in the Kop, so it came to a point where a decision had to be made."

Well, Crystal Palace are not a particularly attractive draw but I am surprised the crowd is going to be that small that a whole end can be closed at Hillsborough. The FA are finally getting their wish; it's the Premiership that's important in people's minds, not the oldest football competition in the world.

The north stand sells better than the kop! Most people seem to go on the two main stands nowadays! Ive only ever been on the kop once since seats were put on there! Plus all the bars are on the two main stand so proberly better to sell food and alcohol there! And maybe because the band are on the kop and they are so annoying!!!!!!!!!

Are that many fans deserting you that the Kop end has to be closed? I must admit, I've never heard of any club's stronghold end being closed, a bad sign imo

I don't know if theres any offers on for the game to make people sit elsewhere but palace arn't a club that people like to watch!The main stands hold over 20'000 between them so it might generate a better atmosphere if they are contained in two areas of the ground?

We came back sunday after the plymouth game! I was going to stay and go to peterborough but we came down for the leicester game which got called off and finances started running low! Thinking of taking her to hillsborough against the palace! To build the crowd up!!!!!
