My effort

The following poem was going to be my contribution to the new "Ayatollah" fanzine, but now as the fanzine has collapsed I will share it on here.. hope you all like it:

I will never forget the 22nd of May
The sun was shining on that memorable day.
It won’t be remembered for the right reason,
This means we are in the championship for another season.

It started well, we went one up
This was better than Barnsley in the FA CUP.
But then what a free kick from Charlie Adam
It quashed my thoughts that we would have had 'em

We re-took the lead through the now departed Joe,
Good luck at Celtic, we'll love you so.
Then we came un-done and Blackpool equalized
We looked like a ship that just been capsized.

Ormerod took the lead, 45 minutes plus one,
That was the moment that got the game won.
We had been beaten by a city famous for a tower,
There can be no complaints, they had the fire power.

But don’t you worry, this year will be fun,
We got great players like Kev’ Mcnaughton.
Look out all 'cos we got Darcy, Jay and Chopra too,
Even Danny Drinkwater, whose coming for you.

Stand up and be loud and sing songs aloud,
Wear the bluebird on your shirt, but yes the playoffs did hurt.
What’s done is done, the past in the past
We're going up this year, it’s going to be a blast!
