http://www.walesonline.co.uk/footballna ... -26959977/As We Def Cannot afford to Loose any More players, never mind some of our Star players.
If We intend to even Challenge for the play offs, to Loose Michael Chopra in my Opinion would leave a Massive Hole in Our Team and I BELIEVE WE WOULD FIND IT VERY HARD TO REPLACE HIM, With Our Financial problems at the moment.
Any Opinions on the subject ?

Annis if the cash is offered upfront then unless things change drastically behind the scenes then CCFC will sell , I hope not mind coz we HAVE to keep hold to our best players ! I wonder where the Echo gets its stories from and isnt Riddler back home in the Leeds area now too ? ?

listen lads no way will leeds fork out that cash! we would'nt even splash out 2 mill for hooper let alone pay his wage demands nope rest assured lads he's not coming to elland rd even tho i'd like to see it happen.simon greyon [larry] recons there's a big signing today to go with alex bruce who we had yesterday time will tell tbh but with bates in charge dont hold your breath..

Don't sell, besides what he brings to a game, where are you going to get a 20 goal a season striker,, I am afraid if we lose Chopra we are going to be struggling, it amazes me when people say get rid off him they must be absolutely crazy keep him at all costs, its easier to replace Witts than Chops

Great to have a Leeds fan on board

We cannot lose any more players and especially one who gets 20+ goals

And that's not just Leeds. I really can't see any Npower League club being able to afford the £3m all upfront it would cost to sign Chopra.

I would say its just paper talk - Its still a quiet time of the season and not much is happening at the city - Plus any editor will know that you put a high profile story on the back and it will sell loads of extra rags
There is a down side to this - Every player my lad has had on the back of his shirt the player has left the following season.
First Fowler, then Parry (only cause the fcuked the joma kids top up) then yes you guessed it last Chopra (Told him he should have gone for Commigues)

Im not saying someone wont make a bid but IMO this is just the echo re running a story just because a player has actually given them some quotes for a change. They will use the same quotes in another story next week as well no doubt.
Fri Jul 30, 2010 8:21 am
I like Chops but if we had a big enough bid, 4.5 to 5 mil, then City would have to consider it. He is a good player and he is try's his heart out, however, he does goes through very barren runs where he does absolutley nothing. He managed 16 league goals last season quite a few of these were at the beginning of the season when he was on form. I seem to remember him going for about 10 or more games without a goal. He is good at this level but he is not irreplaceable. If and it is a big IF, Dj was to get a fair chunk of the transfer money then I personally would let him go. It is probably just paper talk, cant see Leeds affording him, Ipswich maybe but it would still be a lot of money for them.
Fri Jul 30, 2010 9:40 am
ANY team wanting his services would have 2 dig deep because of what we paid for him, what we still owe for him and the goals he scored last season,i dont think any team in the championship can afford that
Fri Jul 30, 2010 9:45 am
Would be foolish to sell Chops to another Championship rival in my opinion!
Judging by this blogger though, you wouldn't think he'd go to Leeds!

exactly m8 thats what i thought tbh..nahh it aint happening end of..

I would be gutted to see him go but if worst happens and he does leave, we've still got McCormack who banged in 23 goals the season before last

Maybe, but he's the player in the squad who would bring in the biggest transfer fee.
When you're in debt to the degree we are, the club have to maximise income.

Take out the penalties from McCormack's goal tally, scored the same as Bothroyd.
Whereas Chops' goals came from open play.
Ross is a good player, a prolific striker, not whilst he has an arsehole.

Exactly if we need cash then Cops is the most saleable asset. i wouldn't want to see him go, but if thats what is required to pay the bills then so be it.
I wonder however if the majority of it would go to Ranson (S.A.M) ?

Everyone said this 2 years ago when Stoke offered big bucks for Ledley.
When rat boy walked on a free everyone moaned that we should have taken the money!

Chops is the heart of our team! Take the heart away and the blood stops pumping!

we said/felt the same when beckford left lufc for everton on a freebie but life goes on the club is bigger than any player..

Chopra is a sulky little geordie tw*t who gets treated with kid gloves, hugs and kisses here.
The highlights of his career have always been here so I think he should cop on pull his socks uget out on the pitch and do the talking with his feet.
As a player I like him but he's dave jones's boy
Fri Jul 30, 2010 2:09 pm
Would be absolutely gutted if Chopra went. With our defence being so bad at the moment, we desperately need to keep Chopra and have a repeat performance of last season, in fact, scrap that, an even better performance.
We by no means have the financial standing at the moment to replace Chopra, so we need to keep him and any money when the embargo gets lifted needs to be spent on much better defenders.
Fri Jul 30, 2010 2:46 pm
McCormack would replace him just fine. Yes Chopra scored goals last year but was all in spurts and most of the time when we won games easily. We have money problems and can't really justify having 3 quality strikers like we do.
Sell him and pay some debts and save the 20k a week wages.
Fri Jul 30, 2010 3:20 pm
The Riddler was handing out money we didn't have.
Yearly signing on fee.
What the hell is that?
No wonder TG is taking his time with new contracts.
If we don’t win promotion this year we would be better off
letting some of these players like Whitts run their contract out if we can’t get a decent
price now for them.
E.g. if we offer Whitts 10k a week
That’s 10k x 52 x3 = £1.5 million without bonus and
Yearly signing on fees [lol]
That’s way too high a price for failure.
Which is all these highly payed players have brought us.

http://www.leedsunited.com/news/2010073 ... 85_2106786i'm happy with him he'll fit in well methinks..
Fri Jul 30, 2010 4:57 pm
If Leeds have got Bruce, perhaps we should contact Ipswich and see if they need a centre half instead of him and offer Hudson!
