Testicular Cancer

Sun Aug 01, 2010 10:36 am

Last august I was diagnosed with stage 2 testicular cancer after 5 months of treatment I was diagnosed as being cancer free, I had an operation in the pelvic area to remove a 7cm tumour which had shrunk from being 13cm after all my chemotherapy.............

I had an operation in March this year and spent a week in hospital, had 30 staples from my belly button down........

I'm currently under a 5 year check at velindre, and has made me look at life in a different perspective!!

All I'm trying to say is I was 29 when I found out I had cancer make sure you blokes check yourself's........

Good news for you mate and I sincerely wish it continues so. We take everything so much for granted and your right about doing regular checks, the "it'll never happen to me" is dangerous as I had put off my prostate problems and just recently been given the all clear but left with benign prostatic hyperplasia and like yourself under regular scrutiny.......... ALWAYS CHECK AND NEVER BE AFRAID OR EMBARRASSED TO CONSULT WITH YOUR GP, IT CAN SAVE YOUR LIVE.

Good luck to you and family :ayatollah:

Good post.

I found out the day after we lost to Sheff Utd when Ross and Gyepes were sent off, my brother had Non Hodgkins disease aka Lymphoma. He had treatment for a year including chemo and is now healthy. He was 28 at the time and had been in the army for 10years. So he was healthy and fit. But it doesn't make a difference how healthy you are, you can still get it.

He went to the doctor because he had lumps in his shoulder and neck and was generally feeling run down. Lucky he went to the doctor when he did or it could have spread everywhere.

If you find a lump anywhere, head straight to he Doctor lads and lasses. The sooner you catch the thing, the better.

Glad to hear you're doing well. :ayatollah:

I know to some extent what your going through mate. I was diagnosed with skin cancer two years ago aged 44, now about
halfway

through a three year bi-opsy check up procedure. Everything fine on my last one, which I pray will be the case on my next

one due in October.

I send you and your family my sincerest best wishes for the future.

Take care mate. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

My GP sent me for an ultrasound back last Feb as he thought I had gallstones. No stones found but the radiologist scanned my left kidney and found a 9cm tumour. Yes, it was Kidney cancer. Until Feb this year I had no symptoms except for a slight swelling under my ribcage which I promised myself i'd mention to my GP but never did! I was lucky, it was confined to the kidney with no local invasion, Doc reckoned i'd had this "Alien" growing inside me for at least TWO years. Kidney removed May 25th and now check ups every Six months. Missed the Jacks game and Wembley as I wasn't well but it looks like i'll get full use of my season ticket! :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Best of luck for the future my friend, I am a Porth lad is your son friendly with my grandson Zane ? The reason I ask is that

Zane lives in Tonypandy and told me his mate`s dad had been diagnosed with cancer. My apolgies in advance if my question is

a little to personal.

No problem. Just asked my son (Alex James), he's friendly with a lad called Zane Davies, they've been down to see City together a few times. At this very moment they are chatting on xbox live!

Good to make your aquaintanceship Nigel. I could`nt remember your lads name, but Zane as mentioned Alex a few times. Zanes rarely off that Xbox thing, saying that I am just as bad with this messageboard.

Take Care and we`ll no doubt speak again. Hopefully catch up with you down the City sometime this season.

Thank's Jack. Alex has been on his Xbox 24/7 since they broke up from school. We went down for the game yesterday though. I bought season tickets for us (Ninian aisle 112 Row Y) so I hope the City will do a little better the coming season than they have pre-season! :ayatollah: :ayatollah:
