They will need every penny, they are in a much worse state than us.

They have, but we also had a lot of bills to pay.
We can only dream of big money signings, lets see what DJ does and if he says he is happy.

i reckon 2 loan signings and that will be it, 3 at a squeeze .
Thu Dec 31, 2009 9:11 am
Watson
Quashie
Cousin
al 3 avail on loan and linked in the past - but not very exciting
Borough are going to try and buy Barry Robson according to one rag - another former target
for me Gibson, Watson and Kitson on loan would be a good start but I think we need 5 players just look at what stoke did 3 years ago spent a couple of million on 5 players and went from play offs to automatic, it s not rocket science

No I didn't hence the tongue in cheek "surprise surprise" comment. Always takes the fans for mugs, slipperry fucka
more fool the fans for continually falling for it. They will all wake up one day soon, I just hope it's not too late for our club.

I thought that there was a promise from Mr Ridsdale that the funds from the early sale of season tickets would be invested in players??
But instead we are mortgaging next years income on short term players for the rest of this season.
Can somone then tell me what happens next summer when we have finished 12th in the division, the loan players have returned to their parent clubs, all the money for next season has already been spent.
Can Mr Ridsdale please enlighten us as to what happens then?
Thank you

He's put everything in one basket i.e banking on the Malaysian investment. If it doesn't come off (Ihope it does) then it's administration a 30 point deduction and relegation - wake up bluebirds.

Guys, the money is being used to invest in new players. Ridsdale isn't telling any lies or mis-informing us. He's just making comments that can be taken either way. You just need to become fluent in the language of Ridsdale!
I'd probably prefer loan signings. Imagine if we signed a player with a decent rep for £2m and he didn't do the business. We've then lost £2m on a duff and will be stuck with his wages. I'll take 4 loan signings thank you very much and the heated reports that we're after Ben Watson for a start will do very nicely. He's the exact sort of player we need.
Thu Dec 31, 2009 9:49 am
Loan players = fees + wages. Can be an effective strategy as some teams who've gone up has shown - not lumbering ourselves with long term contracts.
Thu Dec 31, 2009 9:51 am
Exactly. I think it's a calculated gamble... rather than a total on gamble by signing players permanently.
Thu Dec 31, 2009 9:53 am
I'll repeat the question
What happens when we finish mid-table; the loan players have returned to their parent club; We have mortgaged next years season ticket income; we need to sell our best player / players to survive.
What happens then?

You tell us.
What's more of a gamble, one player bought in at say 2-3m, high wages, or three, four loan players for the same value?
We either improve the squad for the rest of the season or may as well just forfeit games.
Thu Dec 31, 2009 9:58 am
We've built squads of playoff chasing potential on £1 before so I have faith the worst case scenario is that we'll sell Matthews and Chopra for a combined £10m fee and we can cover our wages, debt and any funds for new players with that. That is the WORST case scenario. Not too bad in my eyes.

I'll repeat the answer I gave some moments ago
:-

He hasn't put it all in one basket though. The season ticket funds are being used to cover the financial debts we have now and investing in new players.
If it all comes off then we make the Premiership, that Premiership money eases us and we are sorted.
If it doesn't come off, we just need to sell two players and then rebuild our squad like we've done every season so far.
The worst case scenario isn't the threat of administration. It would just mean selling a couple of top players.
Thu Dec 31, 2009 10:25 am
Zabier - far too many "if's" in your answer for my liking.
As Ihatealiens has stated, all our eggs have been placed in one basket.
That particular Malaysian basket appears to be going nowhere very quickly.
I have asked several questions in regrds to this recently and not received any sort of response, let alone a satisfactory response, such as:
Has TG been categorically confirmed as a Director of the club, as I understand that nothing has been published to that extent.
Have the Malaysians actually invested a single penny in the club as Mr Ridsdale has "confirmed"?
Has the HMRC debt actually been pid off in full as claimed?
Has the Langston agreement been concluded legally by all parties - to date I understand that we have only received verbal confirmation.
These are just a few questions I would want answered before I could agree with you that administration is not a possibility.
Many thanks
Thu Dec 31, 2009 10:29 am
I'm not saying administration isn't a possibility. I termed it slightly incorrectly sorry. I meant that I don't believe this offer puts us any closer to the threat of administration.
Business is based on calculated risks and I don't believe this is placing all our eggs in one basket. If it works then awesome we're flying high. If it doesn't then we're put back a season or so.
It seems us fans are impossible to please. We demand money for new signings so Ridsdale delivers it in the best manner possible but it still seems to cause an irate reaction.
Yes, it would be nice to just have Malaysian investment to sign players but that's not going to happen just yet. I believe that given our current circumstances this is a good idea. It's a gamble, sure, but it's certainly one worth taking.
