Parachute Payments - We Are Swimming Against A Tidal Wave.

Whatever happens to Blackpool this year, for the following four years they will be laughing. By going up last season they have taken themselves into a group of teams that will go up and down constantly.

When they get relegated, the following season they will get £16 million and this is what we are fighting against. What do they get this season, £50 million? Then if they go down and stay down for four years they get £16 million then £16 million then £8 million and finally £8 million. That is IF they stay down, go up again and they are back to the 50 odd million again.

We are never gonna fight this unless someone comes in and wants to use us like a plaything and that will NEVER happen, where are we going to find anyone who decides to throw enough money at it to sort it out.

Just to balance my negative mood at the moment, we will soon get £2.2 million from the Premiership money that is given to the FL. However, this also begs the question, how can League One and Two EVER compete? The FL now get £60 million from the PL, 80% goes to the Championship with only about 13% to Division One and 7% to Division Two. Each Division One club gets only £325,000.

The divide is growing.

It's more about how the divisions are being moved further and further apart. I believe they are creating a small group of highly subsidised at the top of the Championship and then you have a pseudo Premiership Division Two and the bottom half will be dropped.
