Big If but if it came off

Thu Aug 05, 2010 9:43 am

I know it's a big big if but if we can hang onto Chops and Whitts and coupled with the loan deal of Koumas also add Naylor and Harewood or preferably Jason Roberts. Then we would have a squad as good as anyone in the division and i think could have a real chance of automatic promotion.

Do you think TG would think the same way and if so just invest that little bit more to pay the wages of those players mentioned it could be a calculated gamble that might just have a potential 90m reward at the end.

Or am i being wildly optimistic

Agreed, a big if.

However, if that were the scenario then yes, we would have a great chance. (we would also have to strengthen in January though)

Optimistic mate but nothing wrong with that - I can certainly see Harewood coming but sadly I think it will be bankrolled by the shifting on of Chopra. Is he as good ? Possibly but he is a very different player - could we play Jay and Harewood together - possibly because I cannot for one minute see either of them warming the bench. Maybe Jay is off - I am amazed that no Prem League teams are obviously sniffing around him. I think he is undoubtedly a Premier league player.

Jeff on paper we had the best but smallest squad last season and on our day the starting XI matched anybody else in the division and I see no reason why we cant with the additions mentioned be better ? Wee need cover though in certain areas especially come December time :ayatollah:

Guys
Its not scorin goals that's our problem we're good at that. What we need is a sound defence to keep clean sheets. How many times have we gone in front to give stupid goals away to draw or loose games. Just think back to the play off final and remember the comical defending we witnessed that day!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Steve yes i agree we would probably need to strengthen again in January and our defence is still a concern but if we had played Gerrard at Wembley we might not be having this conversation now

I think it's quite within the realms of possibility. :ayatollah:

I'm excited by all this. We need a back up for Jay, as DJ has always said, so maybe Harewood is an additional player rather than a replacement for Chops. And, if Whitts is going to stay, I think that would increase competition for midfield places and another dead ball specialist in Koumas. I think we probably need another full back, or maybe two, but I am both optimistic and excited
