what a mad trip.... who went lads?
went with the supporters club on a day trip coz it was only 40 quid. left bridgend late tuesday and drank all the way to belgium. stopped in a little town outside liege witch reminded me of aberkenfig on a shitty wednesday afternoon but we made the best of it by trying to drinking the local bar dry and bricking the swans on the river (childish i know but funny at the time). got a police escort to ground stopping only to let one of those big flexi buses pass which was jammed with city fans hanging out the window. got off the bus only to get chasedto the turnstiles by riot police. the city following in ground was superb when we scored it was manic. the hellside boys tried to have a go after the game and hundreds of city charged them but that big water cannon soon had us running back over the bridge. back on the bus and the drinking continued until we crashed out. arived back in bridgend on thursday morning bought a paper and found out that 100 city had been deported.

Went via Amsterdam and train down to Belguim, cant remember much lol, chaos after the match with the Police driving everyone around for hours and threatening to take evryone back to Ostend. All the buses ended up in a train station in the middle of nowhere. Put us into three queues with Fat Jeff telling everyone that the first queue is for everyone staying in Liege and will be leaving first. Everyone jumped into the first queue, classic. Got back to Liege and taxi to Holland (Maastricht).

Those were the days. :ayatollah:

Wow that brings back memories. There was two of us who made the trip via ferry coach and train arriving in Liege early morning a day before the game with no City fans anywhere. We checked in to a B&B which ultimately we didn't pay for because we done a runner the day after the game    . Went on the piss all day until later in the evening we went to have a drink opposite the train station.
Everywhere you looked there was City fans what we didn't know at the time the pubs we took over was the Liege lads pubs. Drinking in one bar when two City fans staggered in who had been done over they explained it was in a bar just up the road when the locals took exception to them and gave them a beating. One of our lads stood up and shouted glasses down lads. I thought here we go, everyone got up and and headed to this bar that was all locked up.
So a couple of lads picked up a bench and threw it threw the window and then everyone piled in. All you could here is Police sirens racing to the scene so my mate and me legged it. The ones that remained were hearded back into the pub and from the stories that we heard they were searched, beaten indiscriminately, arrested.
We ended up in another bar for which the Landlord made us welcome, and the City fans there repaid him by getting into the cellar and nicking his wine   .
The day of the game saw a massive row outside the station when the Liege fans tried to attack the City fans, a large group of City fans left walked round the block and came at the Liege fans from behind,Liege fans took a bit of a battering  and that was the first time i have ever seen a water cannon being used. Seeing fans flying threw the air was funny as feck.
Well everyone knows what happened at the game a fantastic night bar the score.
Then after the game we were hearded on these bendy buses and told that we were being taken to the station, but the Police had different ideas they were in fact taking us to Ostend and deporting us  :o We got several miles out of Liege when someone pulled the emergency stop  Everyone piled of the bus and started walking off in this little village, my mate and me dived in this bar where the Landlord shouted at us to get out.
We said we didn't want any trouble and he said have one drink and go. The Landlord even bought us the drinks  Looking out threw the window the Police had persuaded the lads to get back on the bus and they would be taken back to Liege, but they lied and tried to continue with there journey  The city fans responded by trashing the bus and were later taken back to Liege.
Back in the bar we stayed there for 3 or 4 hours having a right laugh with the locals who then showed us the way to the train station so we could get back to liege.
On the journey back home we fell asleep at the train station in Brussels i think! when these coppers with police dogs woke us up and told us to move on  I responded by throwing up all over the platform with the Police dog happily started lapping it up  .What a trip one that will stay with me forever :ayatollah: :ayatollah:
