Central defence

Does anyone else think we need this sorted? Thought they needed to press more and have a bit more authority over the game, IMO this is where a good solid base for a team begins. It's the goals we let that have let is down over the past cpl of years. I feel we need a good solid inluencial signing here to playalong side gerrard..

Last season was a bit of a disaster regarding our defence conceeding silly goals, but the season previous to that we had a miserly defence up until the Preston debacle, think we were either the team with the least goals conceeded or definately in the top 3, we had Rog playing for us then and we had more problems scoring more than 2 goals in a game than we did conceeding any.

Thing is we've spent a bit of money on hudson and gerrard, Hudson is just purely pathetic and and embarresment. Personally I think we should bin him, pay off charlton and use the rest of the funds to bring in a wise old head to not just be strong at the back and influence his other central partner, but to also aid in the growth of our young guns like Blake and Matthews.

I agree, our defence always seems to gift a couple of golden opportunities to the opposition, some new blood in centre defence is required IMO. Loovens would be a good start.

Couldn't agree any more with bringing Glenn back.
Problem is what will Celtic want for him? Stupid money no doubt.

Quite aside from the aberration in signing Hudson at all, let alone for such a high fee and wages to match, I'm amazed jones hasn't copped huge flak in taking such a huge gamble on signing chopra for an even bigger outlay in a promotion gamble that ultimately failed. Other areas of which cb is clearly one were and are in far greater need of attention than replacing a 20 goal a season striker for another 20 goal a season striker, pissing the old one off in the process and leaving the areas in need of improvement unresolved.

Hudson is just way to quiet, I think Gerrard would be a good captain because he doesn't let up. Always talking to the other players, I just don't think Hudson has it in him today we needed someone to get everyone going in the last 20 mins and nobody did. Anyone have any idea why Gerrard was dropped, strange move I thought especially by bringing Gypes in?
