thought he looked average, could have cost us a pen just before they scored and lacks to much pace especially alongside Hudson. Would be Gerrard and Blake for me

Considering he was the main cause for the goal we conceded with an awful attempt of a challenge

True, but if we want to be there at the business end of the season then a new face is required at CB.

The pairing doesn't work both lack any pace, they don't seem to communicate effectively. i can't be assed to moan about hudson..(shite) we all know he's davey's lap-dog.

Serious question, has Gerrard possibly fallen out with jones? Wouldn't surprise me, seems were missing his passion at the heart of the team IMO.

Apparently Gerrard told Dave that he should have been picked for the playoff final.

Couldn't blame gerrard for being pissed off with jones picking that donkey looking kent hudson over him at wembley when him and blake gelled so well in the latter stages of last season. can't understand and captain  worst leader on the pitch give me jay as captain anyday.

Hope Gerrard hasn't fallen out with DJ would be a nightmare, anyone know why Gypes was picked? Or why Quinn didn't even make the bench? He was sat there in a tracksuit but wasn't a named sub apparently. 4 subs is poor even by our standards.

Too Slow at this level. :(

I'm guessing DJ picked Gyepes and Hudson today purely for their physical presence as Sheff Utd normally play with big fellas up front and lump the ball long. Playing Blake at CB probably wasn't worth the risk given his size and Gerrard is the smaller of the three remaining.

Anyone else worry about conceding every time the ball was delivered high into our area? Our team lacks in height and our keeper can't catch, without checking I'd guess that only Bothroyd, Gyepes and Hudson passed the 6' mark out of our starting XI today.

Had the opponents today been someone like Donny, I'd have expected Gerrard to start. Horses for courses etc.

Can't agree with you here Luke, as whilst we all know he's not very quick over a few yards and sometimes has to put rugby tackles in to make amends, I thought Gyepes looked very composed throughout the match today and controlled matters at the back like Hudson failed to do!

He gave away one unnecessary foul which I can remember in the second half, but with regards to the penalty incident, I can't see that he was totally at fault!

He was one on one with Evans, had to try and close him down and get a tackle in if he could. Unfortunately for us, the ball rebounded behind him, which would have allowed Evans a free run on goal, had Gyepes not sneakily got his foot entangled in Evans's legs and brought him down! I'm not sure if the referee would have given a penalty anyway, as he certainly didn't blow for one!

I personally thought that Gyepes had held Evans up long enough then, for somebody to come across and cover behind him, like our maestro captain, or even Marshall, who needs a Satnav to come off his line! :ayatollah:

Be honest mate our back-line looked frail against an average [b[10[/b] man team. yes ten men we should have f*cking walked the win 3-1 4-1 we just looked fucked in the final third. no creativity at all.
