My view of todays match

Marshall - Made a few great saves, but didn't have command of the area like he needed to. VERY shakey on corners still.

Blake - Weak first half, cannot cross for shit, but held is own and made some great runs up the wing.

Gyepes - Too weak today. Made some stupid tackles. I want to know why Gerrard was dropped over Gyepes.

Hudson - Held his own today, saved us a couple of times. Made a STUPID mistake by not watching Leon Britton when Ched Evans scored the goal.

McNaughton - Brilliant game today, run that left side ragged. When that silly Blunts c**t took him out, I feared that he'd be injured, but he carried on regardless.

Whittingham - Poor game. Drifted into the middle when he played on the left. When he moved to the middle, he could've made more of an impact.

Rae - Not my first choice pick for this position at all. Had a bad game until subbed.

Drinkwater - Impressed me, got stuck in, made some great tackles and closed down the ball. He did over-touch the ball in a few occasions however, and hopefully is working on this.

Burke - Weak first half, but in the second half tore that right side up completely.

Chopra - Had a mixed game. Sometimes he was on top, othertimes he looked like he didn't have a f*cking clue what he was doing (e.g. Simple through ball to McCormack that he couldn't do!)

Bothroyd - Had a good game, but looked like he was too afraid to get stuck in with his head.

Subs:

McCormack - Had a brilliant game when he came on. Got stuck in, made good passes, good runs, and could've got a goal if Chopra didn't f**k up.

i do question your observations about Whittingham !

thought he looked solid especially when he went into the middle

Marshall 6 – Didnt have much to do really, one good save I remember. Thought his distribution was a lot better and quicker today though.
Blake 7 – Played very well, some moment of real quality and some silly moments but looked good.
Gypes 6 – To slow especially along side Hudson and both at fault for the goal.
Hudson 5 – poor, gave him the benefit of the doubt last season. Today again he made a lot of silly mistakes.
McNaughton 8 MOTM– Never looked fit last season but after a good preseason he looked back to the old Kev we love.
Witts 7 – Such quality on the ball, and he was needed in the middle in the second half.
Rae 4 – totally ineffective.
Drinkwater 6 – I expect to see more from him but I can see the potential.
Burke 7 – worked hard, never really got going until the second half but he looked dangerous.
Chops 7 – looked sharpe, silly push for our disallowed goal but good finish.
Jay 7 – Worked hard and and got the goal.

your comments about whits are so wrong, he was fanrastic in the middle when rae went off ... and mcormack was blowing out of his arse after the run he had into the box . :(

I agree. I thought the game was passing our entire midfield by until Whitts went into the middle. He was the only one capable of putting his foot on the ball and getting our passing game going on the deck.

I also noticed that when he started dropping deep to pick the ball they started pushing men forward to pressure him which left a gap in the middle of the park that Bothroyd and Chopra dropped into. We wouldn't have opened them up otherwise, they were happy to stick 10 men behind the ball up to that point.

Miles out with Whitts and Ross I think.

Wasn't it Burke who put the ball through for Ross?

Agree, He brought quality, creativity and range of passing once he moved into the centre. Was dropping and helping to build the play up from deep, thought he was superb in the middle!!! My only criticism is his set play delivery, for every good one then are a fair few howlers!!! Would personally like to see McCormack taking more of them

super kev was awesome, whitts was quality in the middle and chopra did f**k that pass up 2 ross but ross' run was abysmal, he ran 2wards chopra when chopra had the ball which closed down any space, ross looked overweight and unfit and dont even get me started on hudson, that guy looked even slower
