With Peter Whittingham ?
Firstly he is in the last 10 months of his contract and more importantly there is only 21 days to trade/sell him.
We all know how valuable his goals and performances were last season but do you believe he will do it again this season ?
With DJ bringing in Koumas I would hazard a guess that JK will start and also when McPhail is fit I would fancy he may get a few games too. We have brought in Drinkwater and there is also Rae, Taiwo and Wildig all vying for a center midfield position. There is Burke out on the right. So if DJ sticks with the 4-4-2 then my guess would be that Burke, McPhail and Koumas would start, would Whittingham stay on the left or would that be Koumas. Would DJ keep a ball winner in the middle Rae/Drinkwater.
Would you sell Whittingham this transfer window to get something for him or allow him to rub his contract down and use him as and when you see fit ?
Mon Aug 09, 2010 7:37 am
Yes I'd sell - fit Koumas is better than Whittingham and we definitely won't be playing both of them. If he helps fund other players coming in then great and if it also means we can keep Chops then I know who I'd prefer. I think either Whitts or Chops will go in this window but hopefully not both.

I would try my hardest to tie him down to a contract in the next 2 weeks. Sadly if he refuses to sign in that time then we must sell and get as much for him as we can. This should have been the priority during the close season with all the players whose contracts expire at the end of the current season. We could end up losing absolute fortunes.

If a team other than Forest made a decent bid, then sell. But after Forests behaviour, I would rather lose him on a free than let him go there.

offer him a new deal if he doesnt sign in a week or two sell for 2 mill at least.

When we need the money though Hannah, would we be cutting our nose off to spite our face if forest are the only club offering ?
Not that I believe Forest are or will be the only team interested.

Any rumours of Matthews going ? We have too many full backs as it is now .
Mon Aug 09, 2010 7:51 am
It is a tricky one from whitts point of view he had a great season in terms of goals last year,he finds hiself at an age where he would want security in terms of a 3 year contract on big wages,we as a club are not in a position to offer him that lucrative contract, forest etc are though. I would not want to lose him but if we are i would be happier getting money for him,so if the right offer comes in we should accept i think.

The worst thing financially for the club would be for him to run down his contract
I must have missed that. What did Whitts say?

Don't know if it's true but i was told that Forest have upped their offer to 1.5m but Cardiff are reluctant to sell because the bulk of any money rec'd will go to Ray Ransoms company? Really think we need to offer Whitts a decent contract but if he refuses to sign then we have a difficult decision to make do we sell him with virtually none of the money being rec'd used for stengthening or do we let him run his contract down and let him walk for nothing at the end of the season.
My opinion is that if Forest only offer 1.5m then we hang onto him because although we have Koumas we do not know how many games we are going to get out of him and we could see exactly what Whitts offers when he moved into the middle yesterday as he's probably the best passer of the ball in the team.

Ranson gets a percentage of all transfers until his debt is settled or he gets a lump sum payment in Sept of £2million.

Lets slow down a bit here !! Whitts was the leagues top scorer last season will he bang them in this season ? He will get his fair share that's for sure. Did he miss many games last season ? Not many he is also consistent. Now for Jason Koumas he is injury prone for a start so you cant go relying on him the same way as whitts. Can we drop Whitts NO should we sell Whitts f**k NO. I am a massive Koumas fan for when he is playing well the kid is awesome but we also need whitts.
I would personally play whitt's in the centre over Macca and as for Taiwo etc they are not any where near the same standard as Koumas or Whitts.

Yep basically what i was saying we just don't know how many games we are going to get out of Koumas and so it would be madness to sell Whitts especially to one of our main Championship rivals i also think Whitts will get around 15 goals this year so we
must keep him

I think DJ's post match comments yesterday pretty much confirmed we'll be losing him. He made a comment about having to lose a couple to bring in new blood and I think he was talking about Whitts and Chops. I hope I'm wrong though.

Whitts , Mc Cormack and maybe Matthews I think ?

Matthews is a cracking player waiting to break threw. To loose him would be madness cheer madness.
Mon Aug 09, 2010 9:25 am
as stated
get him tied down to a contract in the next week 10 days if he refuses then its onto the cattle market and sold to the highest bidder ASAP. be it 500k or 2 mill, we dont want another ledley situation do we,
how many other players are gonna be able to walk at the end of the season if we dont get pen to paper soon ?
Mon Aug 09, 2010 9:26 am
Id hold out for the 2 mill and use 1 mill of it to bring in a player like George Boyd
Mon Aug 09, 2010 9:28 am
the sands of time are not on our side though gareth mate, and other clubs know this so will hold out
Mon Aug 09, 2010 9:31 am
We certainly can't afford to allow him to "walk away " for free, & his agent/advisor has already engineered a move to forest for him, which is being milked by Forest officials, therefore, lets get some money for him, now.

everything is just RUMOURS dont hang a bloke on rumours that is childish and wrong. Possibility his agent is engineering this then he is the greedy cnut not Whitts. It could be Whitts. But we don't know. So please lads lay off Whitts until we know the truth.

I think it gone well past a rumour now,,,, but i don't know the guy, one thing i do know, as do forest & the guy himself, is that time is not on our side!
Mon Aug 09, 2010 10:16 am
If he won't sign a new contract then we have to get cash for him now. I'd rather that and let him leave with some praise for the job he's done here while seeing us get a return for the investment than have another Ledley situation where we get nothing and the player in question gets a shitload of abuse.
I thought he had a great 2nd half yesterday and would hope that he does sign a new deal, but we don't have long to thrash it all out.
