DARCY BLAKE

Mon Aug 09, 2010 8:46 am

For me he is one of our best players we have at the club. And to think we nearly got rid of the kid on a free that is no slight on Jones as we know Darcy's attitude wasn't right. But something has switched on with Darcy and the kid is steamrolling forwards and his versatility is fantastic. It makes me wonder If Jones puts Darcy's name first on his team sheet. Wherever he plays he plays well. Keep it up kid . :D :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

His performance at full back yesterday was fully justified in leaving Matthews on the bench , dunno what happens to Naughts when Naylor signs tho ? :ayatollah:

I thought Naughts played well yesterday. And if you play well you keep the shirt. Someone comes in Koumas included should fight for there shirt. Competition is a fantastic thing to have. Drinkvodka sorry Ross would not agree with that tho

Naughts was my man of the match yesterday and will defo keep the shirt but will it be right or left back or will Naylor keep the bench warm which seems more likely ?

I agree, there seems to be a lot of focus on just the first XI on both this and Mikes board. We're going to play a minimum of 46 league games this season, we'll have injuries, suspensions, players out of form, etc to deal with. Having more than one player per position should be a requirement not only for competition but for cover.

An example of this is Ross McCormack, he played second fiddle to Chopra last season as well as providing cover for both our wingers, he managed to make 24 appearances which isn't a bad amount.

The Championship is more about who has the best squad than the best first XI in my opinion, had we had a few more options last season then we may well have gone up automatically. We need as many players as we can get in of the quality of Koumas, McCormack and Matthews into our squad to challenge the players that currently hold the shirt.

i think Darcy is wasted at CB, at RB or even in CM he's able to have more of the ball and it showed yesterday he's quality on the ball when he got time. I feel at CB he becomes more of a stopper and limits his footballing ability.

Fair play he has come on really well, should be in the Wales full setup as a regular very soon! Keep it up Darcy!! :ayatollah:

Although I agree with McNaughton being man of the match yesterday, Darcey was outstanding. If all the players put as much effort in as hed did we would have won 4-0!

The loan spell at Plymouth was the making of Darcy. Darcy's main strength is defending wherever he plays. Always seems to get a touch on the ball when defending similar to Roger Johnson.
