Ross going is a good deal ?

Mon Aug 09, 2010 3:05 pm

i thinks its a good deal for us and Ross, lets be honest hes a shadow of the player he was !
that run he had into the box yesterday was typical of the player he is now.
2 season ago he would have got to that pass and chipped it over the keeper.
maybe he can pick his career up again with Roy Keane .. 500k for a player who likes a drink or 2 is a good deal :ayatollah:

couldnt agree more with the ross thing, a year or so ago he would,ve got there but hes nowhere near as fit and has lost a bit of pace ...as for stead he,ll do a job covering jay,got good feet and decent in the air...plus cash decent deal.

Yes i think so. Stead will be good back up to jay. Ross is not happy here so move him out.

The only thing wrong with Ross is that he's not starting. Once he's got 5 or 10 games under his belt, we'll see how stupid this deal is.

Ross is a £3m player.

Disagree...Ross is a superstar in his own mind. He is overweight, has lost any form he did have in that one season (when most of his goals were pens) and he has become a bit of a piss head and a loose cannon. Thanks Ross and good luck with little Ipswich Town and welcome Jon Stead to the fastest growing capital city in Europe!!!! :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Just so everyone know's where I stand with Dave Jones before commenting, I think he has done an excellent job on the whole, at least up until last summer anyway, since when I have despaired at much of what he has done, especially player recruitment. It's pretty clear that Jones has in terms of transfer fees done exceptionally well overall, again up until last summer since when much has been questionable. Previously, most if not all failures cost virtually nothing, though this is also conveniently forgetting that he has predominantly had a huge wage bill that has seen many millions wasted on Fowler, JFH & Sinclair etc.

Anyway, McCormack was quite possibly the best of the lot, or at least it should have been. Having cost a paltry £120k or so, after one season we had a £5m player who was creative, determined, versatile, scored goals, gave the team a lot even when not scoring and was all round pretty damn good. Despite banging in 20 goals, Jones saw it fit to replace him though and whether directly or indirectly as a result of signing Chopra, put his nose out of joint and reduced him to back up striker and only competing for a possible spot on the wing. Since then, McCormack has degenerated into a bloated drunkard to the extent we are struggling to get a £1m for what is an excellent player when appreciated. Whatever the rights and wrongs of McCormack's reaction, it certainly shows very poor man management from Jones and even more utilisation of the players and funds at his disposal.

The deal to replace him for £500k plus a player who is barely decent, on substantial wages to boot and barring injury will hardly play is crazy for me and is a further error from Jones from the generous funds he has been afforded.

Totally agree i mean lets sign a center half and stick him up front after a blinding season before than at center back i mean why people moan hes past it and a one season wonder i never know the guys not playing in his postion and when he does its left midfield what do they expect another 26goals every year from him it aint going to happend, bad management u ask me or a personal fall out it just dont make sence

Id be sad to see Ross go  because i remember him for the player he was a few seasons ago. It does seem by reports he has got a drink problem which is sad because he is ruining his career.

Any news on the Ross exchange.

Adding Stead and Olifinjana to the squad would give us more of a physical/height presence. Something that teams getting out of the championship very often have.

I would be sad to see him go also, but it would be a good deal.
