its okay in the resorts but much like the \dominican republic, its a complete hole when you leave the safety of your compound. Dominican republic and Jamaica are without doubt the arse end of the carribean. Better off in Cuba, Cancun, Barbados, Antigua or st.Lucia.

Really? Because I have been to Dom Rep and it is fecking amazing. Ofcourse it is going to be a hole but I am not staying there. As soon as we left Punta Cana airport we hit the roads of people in poverty but as soon as you enter the resort its luxury.

Honestly Dominican republic isnt all that compared to others. I think you stayed at the Sirenis didnt you? I stayed there as well and honestly its a bit of a dump compared to what else is on offer. As long as you enjoyed yourself thats all that matters but you would be better off in Cancun or Cuba, depending on how old you are and who you are going with, Cancun is fantastic. You will realise then that Dominican republic and the Sirenis is just really butlins in the sun

Hi mate, i stayed in Negril 2 years ago landed in Montego Bay looked a lot better than Negril i.e shops, bars, resturants etc. You will be constantly hassled once you leave your resort, my wife felt very edgy in Jamica. Went to Dunns very nice trip, jerk chicken is lush a must try also red stripe everywhere.

And as you know you had plaenty of stuff to do with Tennis etc so I was happy tbf.

We are staying in this huge resort anyway so hopefully no need to venture out too much as I know the hassling in the Carribbean is beyond

i remember the beach, the coral in it, the drug dealers on the beach and the bad food, dangerous room and millions of locals invading on the weekends. Jamaica will be a lot better, honestly Dominican republic is the shit part of the carribean, you will be amazed with Jamaica.

We went last year. We stayed at the Half Moon, the resort was amazing but the area around it is a shithole.

We did the black river crocodile safari and sailed down some other river (can't remember the name) on bamboo rafts, both were good trips.

We visited the rum factory but we stayed outside, had a major hangover and the smell was making me ill.

The resort had its own private dolphin lagoon. We had an encounter which cost about £250 but was amazing and definitely worth the money, the dolphins swim around you doing tricks and you get to hold them and pose for photos. We couldn't afford to actually swim with them, that was seriously expensive.

On the whole we enjoyed the trip but I wouldn't go back.

For me and the mrs cuba was quality we went into the locals nightclubs bars etc,they were great,no hassle,we stayed in varedero(not sure of spelling) barcelo sol y mar hotel was quality.also we have been to mexico cancun that is superb,we are going back again july,i would recommend both,mexico( cancun) is superb though.

so ive been told, the dominican, is a poor mans carribean?????
