Am I the only one who doesn't think we should....

That seems to be the view of the average man on the streets. At work yesterday most were saying this

send aid to Pakistan..?

Im sick of the governments in this country sending aid here, there and everywhere and forgetting about their own citizens and the day to day struggles we have to put up with.

On top of that, Muslim exstreamists all come from camps in Pakistan so why should the west help them.?

Sickens me to the core that we send so much to these fookin foreign countries when people in our country need help and our Soldiers get paid a pittance.

I subscribe to the Red Cross monthly. Over the last 2 weeks I have had them phoning asking for donations for Pakistan. They really are getting on my nerves and I'm on the verge of cancelling my subscription to them.

The difference is, most people in this country have shelter, food, electricity and clothes. At the moment, at least 15m people in Pakistan have none of those.

And coming from a military family, believe me, soldiers are not underpaid. Though more money should be spent on equipment and housing for soldiers mind.

If we had a disaster in this country, I would bet my last fiver, no country would jump to our aid.

I wouldn't say that Britain is well loved amongst the commonwealth. Also, if we had a disaster, our economy suffers. If our economy suffers, so does every one else's so they would help.

Sorry but I am offended that you could compare what is happening in Pakistan with our, in comparison, tiny problems.

As for not providing the people with aid because a few are helping terrorists by allowing them in the country, well that's like all city fans being classed as hooligans because a few cause trouble.

I don't think we should send aid either. On one hand, their government criticises us because of what Cameron says about terror camps and sympathisers in Pakistan, which everyone knows anyway but seems to scared to say, but on the other hand they bite our hands off to accept the millions of pounds of aid. Perhaps that aid should be conditional?

Agreed, but i cant help feeling this country is being hypocritical on the terror camps when we let fanatics preach hate and violence in our own land without any comebacks.

In the past I have happily donated to the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami victims and the more recent Haiti earthquake.

I will not give to the Pakistan appeal because Muslims believe in only helping their own. Fair enough if that's what they believe, but they must understand the consequences and seek aid from wealthy fellow Muslim countries like Saudi Arabia.

Funny thing is you never hear of SA or any other Arab Oil state sending humanitarian aid to their fellow Muslims when disasters happen (e.g. the earthquake in Pakistan a few years back), but yet they have no problem in expecting the terrible infidels of the UK to provide aid.

Sorry I will not give to such terrible racist and bigoted people and if last night’s report in the South Wales Argus is correct, then many more feel the same way I do.

Well, have you actually seen the news? These are normal people suffering a great deal due to a natural disaster.

We, sitting pretty in the west have a moral obligation to help those to less able to help themselves, through no fault of their own.

I believe that all countries should look after their own diasters themselves before seeking help and aid from elsewhere , couldnt have been that important if their head of state was on walkabout somewhere else in the world and didnt fly home immedietley , what example is that to set ? Surely their government must have contingency plans for such an emergency , their choice to leave the British Commonwealth years ago and go it alone ! We've had floods in the UK for years and we manage .
