FAO Carl -trying to make sense of the chopra debt

Fri Aug 13, 2010 5:31 pm

I've been having a think of this and trying to work out how the debt could have gone from £500k per season to £1.5m.

Do you think its due to the £500k for last season not being paid on time (i.e prior to the end of last season) ? Therefore triggerring payment of the whole debt.

OR were the original reports just not true and there is still more to pay after the £1.5m is paid off.

Its worrying that the league have withheld this as the Malaysians (and the others who coughed up) are going to be asked to put more in earlier than expected now.

Tim I understood that when Ridsdale was here, he claimed that we paid Sunderland £500k up front and then he told others that another £1million was to be over the course of the season and the final payment of £1.5million was to be paid this summer.

Know that was what I was told and others were told the very same but after hecking the details of the Sunderland deal it turns out that the deal went as follows :

£500k up front
£1.5million this summer
£1million final payment next summer

It has been claimed that City done a deal with Sunderland to structure the payments for the £1.5million which was owed recently but something has not happened and the football league give Sunderland a payment direct.

Hi Carl, I've been out playing football, just got back. Thanks for the answer
Sunderland site claimed it was £2m (although there may have been an element of money owed by them to us) as £500k per season. I beleived them ovr the local reports and guessed any further payments would be ralated to us going up.

If FL felt the money was owed then I'm not suprised they paid it over. et another blow for Tg. I hope he's a tolerant and patient man
