Curse of the Calander?

Fri Jan 01, 2010 11:23 am

For a number of years now (first started in the 'thin blue line') there has been a theory that the official CCFC calander was a curse on the players.

Of the players who appeared in the calander a full team (11) have left the club either premanently or by loan agreements, they are:

Tom Heaton, Tony Capaldi, Roger Johnson, Darren Purse, Darren Dennehy, Eddie Johnson, Darcy Blake, Aaron Morris, Paul Parry, Edwin Sak and Jon Brown.

January's feature had Peter Enckelman who played his last game of the season against Forest (31 Jan) in that before suffering an injury.

March featured Gabor Gyepes and Ross McCormack and both players got sent off in that infamous game against Sheffield United (22 March).

April featured Eddie Johnson who 'scored' that unfortunate own goal against Derby (8 April) in the final minute. What seemed like an unimportant event at the time, came back to haunt the Bluebirds weeks later as they missed out on a play-off position by ONE goal.

June had Darren Dennehy who was released.

August featured Darren Purse who had left the club by then and the set the tone for the rest of the year with Paul Parry Darcy Blake Edwin Sak and Jon Brown filling in the later months.

As a matter of interest Joe Ledley does January for 2010 (last ever game?) and Ross McCormack does May when we should be at Wembley for the Play Off Final
