It was okay. The only real downside being that everyone (and I mean everyone) hates you, so you take constant verbal abuse everywhere you go. There was this one guy not so long back who called me everything over one of the most trivial of issues, it wasn't even anything to do with me, I was just trying to help him. I'd like to meet up with him again now that he can't hide behind my position. lol
The ticket office girls get it the worst though, they take it from both sides. It's their fault when the team loses and they take the brunt of the abuse. Comments like "just give me my f*cking ticket, you f*cking slut" are quite common and any other abuse you can think of. Then when the fans are not giving it to them the staff at the club take their turn giving them a kicking. I've worked in some places but the ticket office is without doubt the worst working environment I've ever seen. There are nice fans though that give them wine and sweets and stuff. Funny enough those fans never have any problems. Oh yeah and a word of warning to any gobshites out there, the girls write notes about you in your profile, so if you are a tw*t to one of them then the others will know about it the next time you go there. Yes, that is the reason why you were sat behind that pillar.
There are loads of stories, good and bad. Suffice to say it's not a normal place to work. The money is rubbish (unless you are one of the favoured few), the working hours are all over the place but every day is different. The problem is though that you can't have a work place which isn't normal on some things and then expect normal on others.
All the funny stories I can think of date to when Sam was there, I can't think of a single one post Sam now that I come to think about it. The guy is a total nutter, completely unpredictable.
One funny one was when they put sheep in his office, there was shit and piss everywhere. The best one though was when he locked a reps car in the front reception area. Sam has these little rules that you must never break, one being that you don't park in his spot. This woman turned up one day for a meeting and parked in his place. When he returned he went nuts trying to find the owner but instead parked his car across the entrance to Ninian Park to block her in. When he turned his back some of the lads got her car out. I won't tell you how because to this day Sam doesn't know how they did it. But he walked out of reception expecting to see the car blocked in but instead it wasn't there. He was going mental trying to work out how she got it out.
He used to rip the shit out of people if they visited with a prem shirt on, that was always very funny to watch. This one delivery guy walked in to reception with a Man U shirt on and he told him never come there ever again and if he had to deliver a parcel again then he'd have to shout across the road for someone to come out to him.
