END OF THE ROAD FOR WHITTS??

Tue Aug 17, 2010 5:22 pm

surely with us bringing in bellamy and keeping both chopra an bothroyd it seems that whitts days will now be numbered with several parties interested in his services and with him having less than a year on his contract?????
IS it time to take £1m/1.5m for a player we only paid 250k for???
i think it is that time lets just hope he goes to lower prem club and not championship!!

I think that whittingham is a one season player BUT BUT BUT I think it would be unfair to shaft him for no good reason, if he dosent perform or contest for the spot he feels he deserves then fair enough but its a bit soon to say that whitts should go when only 3 or 4 months ago he was our prise asset and top scorer. :old:

We need a squad of players not just 11.
That’s been our problem in the past.
Competition for places will keep our squad on their toes.
Keep all our players including Ross

Oh in an ideal world eh!!!

problem we have is all these players have massive wage bills to cover - and yes we need a "squad" not a "team" but we have the finincial things that come with and these players were given contracts with high pay- something has to give!

according to the sports pages in hull ross has agreed personal terms with them and straight swap with daniel cousans and is lined up to make debut against watford sat

No chance, a player should stay and fight for his place

Agree! Whitts is one of our best players! We need options, competition and a squad! Only player I'd let go is Ross. And maybe Mcphail now that we have koumas!

This signal of intent by the club may encourage him to sign a new contract.

Re: END OF THE ROAD FOR WHITTS??

Tue Aug 17, 2010 6:45 pm

i really hope not, i think he's been brilliant this season i you could argue that he has been man of the match in all three of our games so far. he looks hungrier and more confident than ever and for the first time i've seen him demanding the ball and making the most of his undoubted ability

Re: END OF THE ROAD FOR WHITTS??

Whitts can fight for a place with Koumas simple as.

Olifinjani and Drinkwater are totally different types in that they will work
hard off the ball, they can pass and they can get around the pitch. Both
koumas and Whitts are what we'd call 'luxury players' we cannot afford to
play them both!!

Some of you guys are missing the point of the thread.
without a doubt whitingham is a quality player but the facts are siimple,
hes a high earner that we paid 250k for and has less than a year to run on his contract, we don;t want another ledley situaution we all no we got ass fucked there!!
if forest etc bid £1.5m/£2m all cash then i'm sure the club will sell guys we don;t have the option not to plus it will take some heat off the wages and tax bills every month!! as bellamy wages will only increase this PAYE bill!!

Strength in depth is what we need. Bit silly to get rid of him now. Drinkwater, Bellamy, koumas and the others are just on loan dont forget

I think that if any of our midfield players are to leave it will probably be Gavin Rae or steve Mcphail.

Re: END OF THE ROAD FOR WHITTS??

Tue Aug 17, 2010 9:11 pm

We really need to keep Mcphail i think we havent seen the best of him yet,hes our cover for koumas, its great having a back-up creative cm player :D :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

It's a good topic and my belief is that Whitts will be sold, now that is not an exclusive or "in the know shit" but just my opinion and has been since Koumas signed.

Quote Gethin Jenkins"We want to keep our star players" Keep him we need strength in depth and its a nice headache for Jones to have. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

I dont know, to be honest it think Jones will want to keep hold of everyone he can

I know it is not up to Jones but does he want to sell a great player to a rival ?

But if it meant bringing in a quality centre back, Id drive Whittingham to his new club myself for 2 million

with Bellamy in the side now, Whitts can't do the usual disappearing act he pulls during some games. I think with Bellamy signing and the formidable attacking talent we now have, it may make Whitts feel differently about going anywhere

I can also see him going. Either that or signing a new contract knowing he's going to
be fighting for a place with some class players. He's had it made for over a year.

We will not get stung again like we did with Ledley, if he wont sign a new contract, sell him!!

The problem with that is, I think he'll be a bit part player these next few months and if we dont
sell him in the next two weeks we wont get as much come January.

McPhail would love to have a player like Bellamy to supply to.

I don't think he gets the credit he deserves.

To quote Cantona, "You also need to have water carriers"

McPhail has never been a water carrier?

He's a great passer of the ball but his tackling and work rate just aren't good enough
for this division. Whittingham and Koumas are of a similar type... except they will
score goals too!!!

McPhail, for me, has gone missing in action far too often

Sell him!! if anyone wants him?
