FL Chairman Greg Clarke should resign

Thu Aug 19, 2010 8:47 am

Resign now before you make yourself and the FL look even more sillier. You cannot change rules retrospectivly to suit your own and other clubs agendas.Resign now like you did in some of your former disastrous jobs. How you ever got this one is beyond me as your CV must look bleak to say the least, after all you were in charge of Leicester City in 2002 when they went bust owing millions to creditors that were not paid.Or have you forgotten that? So much for your business standards.

Resign Now before you damage the FL and give the job to somebody decent with a good record in football and business someone like Peter Ridsdale

Just thought of something... Didn't a LEAGUE 2 team sign 2 massive Premier League quality players last season on around £40,000 a week. So what happened there Football League? Were they not investagated? Sol Campbell & Kasper. One rule for one, another for another.

And, if I remember rightly, their finances were a little shaky as well. Still might be, I suspect

Greg Clarke was Chairman of Leicester City when the club entered administration with debts of £50m, he was also part of the Gary Linekar consortium who purchased the club when in administration. That consortium later sold the club to Milan Mandaric and part of that agreement was that if Leicester City were promoted to the PL within 3 years, on or before 2010, the members of the consortium would receive a further 40% bonus on the value of their shares (worth £6.4m).

Any hope of receiving that bonus ended at the CCS in May, now could it be possible that this guy is just pissed at Cardiff City for costing him a few hundred grand. His outburst yesterday was unacceptable from the head of the FL and yes he should resign.

Actually I can understand why Greg Clarke and the Football League needed to ask for assurances that Cardiff City could finance their end of the bargain regarding Bellamy's wages.

If we did default during the season then quite rightly we would be accused of 'cheating' our way to signing one of the world's best players.

However, Clarke and the FL erred by making the whole thing public. The assurances could have been quickly provided and Bellamy's registration could have gone forward without the obvious attempt to publicly humiliate this great club.

Clarke and John Boyle should hold hands together.

Don't know if anyone mentioned, but some of the Motherwell players he sacked are in the Scottish press calling him a disgrace for the way he is going on. Two of them alone are still owed £350k between them and don't ever expect to see the vast majority of it.
