Next years squad

Postby phildavies » Sat Apr 27, 2019 6:21 pm

Who do we see leaving/being sold then in the summer obviously we will lose Camarasa and Gunner is gone. Cant really see anyone coming in for anybody else.

Desperately need to get 4 players in as soon as possible

RB
2CM's (at least of whom need to actually make runs into the opposition box)
St

We have good wingers for the championship so could do with signing a striker who can actually win balls in the air.

It's a strange one as will lose the 3 loanees and most if not all the others are championship standard? Will they stay under warnock cant see Reid ect who've been consistently overlooked by him staying suspect may need 6 players if not more, must take into account finances so could be long summer recruitment wise

I can see Reid taking over Camarasa place. We'll need a DM to replace gunnars. I've got a feeling Arter will stay but Ralls is more than good enough if he doesn't.

Would like a new striker though. Maupay?

If Sheffield United release Basham and McGoldrick we should grab them. No point dreaming about signing “”marquee” players, we didn’t bother doing that this season, lol.

I actually forgot about Arter leaving we need at least 3 CM to come in then.

Don’t be surprised if Smithies and Cunningham will be starters next season. If Bennett and Etheridge have better offers they’ll be gone like a shot.

We're gonna probably keep

Etheridge
Smithies
B Murphy

Cunningham
Manga
Morrison
Peltier
Bamba

Ralls
Bacuna

Mendez-Laing
Murphy
Reid
Paterson
Zohore
Ward

I can see Warnock selling Bennett to have an excuse to play Cunningham.
I don't see Hoilett signing a contract
I don't see Kadeem being assured of first team football
Connolly's contract ends, no reason to extend it.
Richards contract ends, no reason to extend it.
Don't think Madine has a place anymore, same with Tomlin & Bogle. We need to sell those three by the way, they all have a contract for another year.

We just need to clean up any fringe players. I'd like to see Bennett & Hoilett stay but it's not happening IMO. Like I said, Warnock will want an excuse to play Cunningham, and Hoilett has probably had enough.

Can't think of anyone else though I'm sure I've forgotten someone.

Hoilett should stay. He’s better in the Championship.

Indeed hopefully we can re sign Harris 4 brilliant championship wingers on the books then we would have the best options by far in that posoition in the league. hoilett, NML, Murphy and Harris

The amount of times we have had the ball played in to great areas with no one there, we need someone with great positioning, be in the right place at the right time to just finish who is an aerial threat as we send loads of crosses into the box, Becuase there’s been too many crosses and pull backs and even rebounds where there should be someone there to tap in or just finish. At the minute sometimes it seems like there’s just no one there to follow up or gamble

Quality over quantity. If we can keep most of the squad together then we have fighting chance.

For me we need to secure:

Right Back
Ball winning Midfielder
Creative midfielder with pace.

3 to 4 signings with maybe an addition 1 - 2 loan signings will be enough. The importance of getting business done quickly will be the season breaker

Midfield and striker needs to be built around Reid. He will be key for us next season.

A huge fee apart, I don't think Neil Etheridge will go anywhere; he thinks Neil Warnock has been great for his career and has stated he wants to continue to work with him to gain promotion again

It may be a different situation at the end of next season, assuming this is Neil Warnock's last at this club

He is contracted until 2021.

an excuse?
laughable when things like this are said tbh.
he has actually been very brave in not playing the players he bought ..it is after all the easy thing to do .

Why would Etheridge want to go to WHU and sit on the bench all season ?
