Crystal Palace and Burnley ready to pounce for Cardiff City's Josh Murphy - reports

Crystal Palace and Burnley have got their eye on Cardiff City's Josh Murphy should the Bluebirds get relegated from the Premier League, according to reports.

The wideman became Cardiff's first signing of last summer in an £11m move from Norwich City when he signed a four-year deal to move from the Championship to the top flight.

Murphy, 24, is widely regarded as one of Cardiff's better forward options, and has made 27 Premier League appearances for the Bluebirds this season - seven from the bench - scoring three goals and producing one assist in that time.

Now, Football Insider reports that Crystal Palace and Burnley have set their sights on the winger and are ready to make a move if the Bluebirds go down.

The sports outlet reports that a source close to the player says his performances have brought him under the clubs' radars, with his speed and versatility an attractive proposition.

Murphy joined Norwich's academy as a schoolboy and made his first team debut for the Canaries in 2013, and has had loan spells with Wigan Athletic and MK Dons.

At the time of the signing, Warnock admitted Murphy had been his number one target since the end of the previous season.

But the veteran boss wasn't as complimentary when he explained Murphy's absence from Cardiff's must-win clash against Fulham at the weekend.

Warnock said Murphy's exclusion from the squad was down to the winger's poor showings in training, with the decision to leave him out placed under increased scrutiny following Cardiff's toothless attacking showing in West London.

Warnock said: "He's been poor in training. No excuse," a frank Warnock explained after the game.

"I could have said he had something creaking in his back or something, couldn't I? But he's been poor in training.

"I hope it gives him a kick up the backside and he's better in training next week."

Cardiff play their penultimate game of the season against Crystal Palace on Saturday, before facing Manchester United the following weekend.

I think Kads might leave at the end of the season tbh his contract is up I think. Id keep Murphy personally as we need as many young players as we can get with a bit of an ageing squad and I reckon Murphy could do some damage in the Championship too. However if they offered 14m+ id sell but I don't see that happening and reckon this is made up transfer nonsense
