NEIL WARNOCK:
Asked about his intention to stay, Warnock says:
“I think you need to relax for a few days and then see. You can’t make rash decisions.
“I’m sure I’ll have a chat with Vincent [Tan] and Mehmet [Dalman] in the next few weeks.
“I’ll be working somewhere next year - even if it’s not here. I’m up for the challenge after my best possible year. I had a tear in my eye with the fans. I’ve never seen a relegated team get an ovation like that.
“If I hadn’t got the drive, I wouldn’t do it. But I do and Sharon’s happy for me to do another year.
“So I’ll have to have a chat with Vincent and see. We haven’t let the fans down that often in a season and they’ve treated it as a bonus.”

“Obviously it was difficult.
“In 40 years, I’d come up against most things. But this was out of the blue.
“I’d be wrong to say it wasn’t an emotional time for me because you think of your family at times like that and my family’s had a few blows. You do wish you had him here because I think he would have scored 10 goals.
“The club’s alive and kicking now. When I came, it was flat. There’s no reason they don’t go again and have a good season next year.
“You just don’t know what’s around the corner in football. I want Man Utd to have a chance of top four so we have a chance to spoil it.”

“Someone asked me about Emiliano and you spend two months trying to get a player.
“That puts things into perspective. We were relegated. A lad’s lost his life.
“Some of the lads have grown into the Premier League and we have to go again. We’ve made mistakes all season.”
On the best season?
“We’ve had to overcome so much. Keeping a group like this together.
“I went to the commission and there were 13 major incidents we hadn’t got. You need a bit of luck.”
