Why don’t Cardiff help the Welsh national team more?

Sat May 11, 2019 11:02 am

Interesting article, the Jacks have nurtured a lot more Welsh talent than us, are we the antithesis of Bilbao?

We provide the same amount of players (1) as Barry Town to the U20s.

Also, Nation is a good site for news from a Welsh perspective, much better than the fake, scummy Daily Mail and Sun

Very odd and random story? Since last stay in premier league we haven't been there except season just finished so no we havent had a welsh player in premier league since then ! And whilst it mentions 2 Swansea players starting last game Swansea not in premier league last season, and no mention of how many they had in welsh team whilst in premier league for 7yrs ? Yes city have poor record on welsh players at international level but this story smacks bias against the club and its methods :old:

Looking at the last senior Wales squad and it's about even.

It's not a competition though and yes I would like some more younger players in the squad. The under 18s had an excellent season this year

There's a story in there somewhere but the stats used just make look like a completely contrived article. It really just said Cardiff haven't supplied any starters for the last 6 Welsh games. That said we probably do need to make better use of local resources and potential if not for the benefit of Wales, but for ourselves. The conditions do seem ripe at the minute for another Bale or Bellamy to slip through the net.

Yes until we get a level 1 academy premier teams will take the best we may have with impunity and cannot blame youngsters if a premier league comes knocking.... may be things are changing and tan will start to 're invest in academy because it as been badly neglected past couple of years even though we have 3 house of sports centres plus the blue balloon to our name something is missing.. :old:
