Warnock’s war chest for next season

Leaving work today and was told by a fellow fan that I bumped into that NW is going to have a £15M war chest for next season.
I’ve no idea where his info came from (the other board?) and I doubt that if it was true that it would be publicised for obvious reasons so I’m sceptical to say the least.
Anyone heard anything? :bluescarf:

I know we don't want to overspend, but I would be disappointing if he's only got 15m to spend.

Like Warnock said in the past, his funds in Janurary particularly for BACK UP players was something like 5 million for Gary Madine.

Yeah you might say that was because it was Janurary so the prices go up, fine but do you remember how much we paid for Lee Tomlin?

I just think spending 3-6 million on one player is something of a gamble. I think if the price is around 7-10 million then you get what you pay for.

I was under the impression Warnock wanted to improve the team, not supplement the squad. We need to replace Gunnarson first and foremost, and that itself isn't cheap. As much as people criticise Gunnarsson there was never any chance we would have accepted 5m for him (contract aside), we would have wanted a bit more in my opinion.

Don't get me wrong, I think the squad we have now is good enough to be up there, but I do think 3-4 QUALITY signings would make us more comfortable which I thought was the idea of this transfer budget?
Do you all really think 15 million is enough? Not to run away with the league, I don't.

Before you get to depressed about the story you'd best wait until window closes then you'll know what we spent or how many players we bring in or sell.. :occasion5:

How much did Mendez Laing, Bennett, Hoilett, cost?
You can pick up quality without huge fees. There are some gems around but it’s also wages that are the key these days.

We need a 24 year old Peter Whittingham, £350k, a Chopra, £5m a Jay Bothroyd, free I think, Gunnars was cheap, it's all about the scouting. NML didn't cost much either.

Two £5mill midfielders
One £3mill right back
Two squad signings at £1mill each
Two loan signings

Squad will be very strong and should be promoted.

£15mill will be enough imo

Should sell etheridge as smithies is a quality keeper anyway and splash 25million on maupay. We would walk the league with him IMO

He already spent what 30m plus on championship players, add another 15m and that's 45m.... How much does he want.

I agree with most comments on here, I feel 10-15m which is being quoted by wales online is a far smaller budget than I thought we'd be spending. I doubt we'd even be in the top 6 for spending next season and we've just had a huge amount of money from the prem and parachute payments for 1st year will be 45m. I was expecting we'd spend between 25-30m tbh and I know people will say spending huge amounts of money doesn't always work and I agree to an extent but it don't half help in getting quality in. It costs around 7-10m just to get a top quality Champ player these days.

Look what not investing a lot of money done this season. Sent us down. If we dont invest 25 million next season we wont go up imo.

1. How the f**k are wales online going to know what the budget is for next season. It’s definitely just a guesstimate by them.

2. If the club came out and said we’ve got 50 million to spend guess what happens when we bid for players?

That’s right the price goes up because other clubs know we’ve got plenty of cash to chuck about.

3. We just beat Manchester United 2-0 at Old Trafford. The player that scored both goals how much did he cost?

A grand f*cking total of f**k all

The goalkeeper that made some good saves and kept a clean sheet how much did he cost?

That’s right a grand total of f**k all

A few years ago we were signing freebies from Belgium who nobody’s ever heard of now your all f*cking moaning because somebody from wales online has come to the conclusion we ‘only’ have 15 million to spend.

Remember how we treated ourselves to players last time we got relegated didn’t end well for us did it. We had about three seasons of boring no hope football trying to sort it out then almost got relegated to league one.

Short memories some of you lot.

BRILLIANT POST. !

I'd add that Wales Online seem to have less sources than you'd expect In their local club and they frequently seem to make bollocks up. When they employ journalists who can consistently manage to spell and get their basic grammar right I'll start considering that they might also manage to get some proper information to report.

WOL don't have a clue. Warnock stated he would not stay unless he had the financial backing to make a real effort to get straight back into the Premiership. After the recent meeting with the board I can't see him accepting only 15 million as enough backing to make him stay.

Good post. Yes warnock has proven he can get some real good players for a bargain so hopefully can do this again, also hopefully we can get some real quality in in the loan market again like camarassa and arter. But i do think we need to invest some money in to getting a proper goalscorer and not cut corners there unless we can get a good one in on loan

Are people seriously moaning about transfers and money already!!??haha. Unbelievable. The club are not going to come out and say how much they are planning on spending so that clubs push their prices up. From what I have read warnock has said he wants certain signings and the club has said he has has got their backing. Cant people see the positives in that rather than slating the clubs 'ambition' before the new campaign has even started.

Totally agree.

I hope Warnock is backed but at the same time I don't want us returning to the problems we have previously had. Considering he spent 30m+ last season I think 15/20m budget is huge, that's looking at 50m worth of players more than the promotion squad not including the money he spent the year we went up.

that's how I see it proving that if we do sell a player or 2 some of the proceeds is added..

I honestly think he will have closer to 20 million. Looking at the facts, he spent the least in the Prem, Tan was prepared to back him with 15 in Jan because we were so close to retention of Prem status. The board aren’t stupid, they can see where we plugged holes this past season with albeit great loan acquisitions in Arter and Camarasa. The reality with Gunnar’s leaving is we need three new central midfielders on our books. It will be interesting to see what becomes of the likes of Reid (should be Camarasa’s replacement), Madine, Tomlin, Damour and Harris... There is either options to groom over the summer or funds to be generated by letting go?

I really don't like our use of the loan system. I understand that it has allowed Cardiff to get some quality talent in cheap, but it leads to the same end result at the end of every season. We build a player up and he goes elsewhere. It seems to leave us in the lurch at the end of the season. This year we have no midfield left and last year we had to make 5 or so signings just to get a squad together.

How much did Norwich spend last year?

Sheffield United?

15 million is plenty enough for Warnock. He put the last Championship promotion side together for a lot less.
