POTTER RELEASE CLAUSE

16/05/19

Swansea have a release clause of just under £2m for manager Graham Potter, Sky Sports News has learned, which Brighton will have to meet in order to secure his services.

It’s thought Brighton are prepared to pay that, with Potter their primary target to replace Chris Hughton, and a deal could be concluded within a week - though we’ve been told Potter hasn’t yet fully decided it’s right to leave Swansea.

Potter's young family only relocated to south Wales recently, after his move from Ostersunds in Sweden, but it’s thought he is excited about the prospect of managing in the Premier League.

Swansea’s new chairman Trevor Birch has made it clear he won’t let Potter leave without a fight - a formal approach from Brighton to talk to Swansea’s manager was refused yesterday. He still has two years left on his current deal at the Liberty Stadium.

He'd be stupid to stay at that club, he wont get backing from the yanks and they'll be selling anything of value.

They let him down with false promises over transfers in and out during the last season, so I doubt he'll have any deep loyalty to them, if Brighton are genuine in their interest

Swansea claiming they don't want to let him go but the two clubs are said to be 'in discussion' over compensation and an announcement could be made in the next few days

Will he be a loss? If I'm being honest, the Swans have a good record on management selection, so I don't see them being any worse off should he depart; it will be the players leaving that will make the big difference
