Newcastle, Burnley, Cardiff and Brighton fans clocked up the miles in 2018/19 Premier League season

Fans of Newcastle, Cardiff, Burnley, Bournemouth and Brighton & Hove Albion clocked up the most miles and fuel costs while supporting their team in the 2018/19 Premier League season.

New research by Crusaders Vans showed Newcastle fans travelled 4,579 miles last season, averaging 241 miles per game, which costs around £962 in fuel per year. Their longest journey was to AFC Bournemouth, which is 353 miles away.


Cardiff City fans took second place in the table - travelling 3,444 miles last season, costing £723 in fuel, the Bluebirds clocked 181 miles per game, with their longest journey to Newcastle United at 317 miles.


AFC Bournemouth was third with a total mileage of 3,359 miles for their away games, with Newcastle the longest journey. It cost fans £705 in fuel costs, with their average distance for away matches 177 miles.

Burnley were fourth with their fans travelling 3,343 miles throughout the season.

Brighton were fifth with their total travel distance 3,167 miles and the cost of fuel for the season was £665.

The average travel distance for Albion fans was 167 miles and their longest journey was the 345 miles to Newcastle.

The trip to Brighton was the longest journey for five five clubs - Burnley (296 miles), Everton (271), Liverpool (271), Manchester City (261) and Manchester United (260).


In the Football League, Plymouth fans travelled a huge 6,033 miles for away games and paid £1,267 in fuel costs.

They were followed by Carlisle fans who travelled 5,025 miles at a cost of £1,055 and Sunderland supporters who went 4,991 miles to watch their team, costing £1,048.


Russian team Zenit St Petersburg have to travel 10,906 miles in a round-trip to play SKA-Khabarovsk, while in the MLS Orlando City fans have to travel 6,418 miles in a round-trip to play the Vancouver Whitecaps in Canada.
