Cardiff beating Boro to land this 26-year-old attacking star would get them back into the PL on the first attempt

According to a report from Media Wales, Cardiff City are set to battle it out with Middlesbrough for the signing of Genk’s Tanzanian attacker Mbwana Samatta.

Monday 20th May 2019

The Bluebirds were linked with the forward back in January according to the report and they are monitoring his progress to bring him in this summer.

Neil Warnock’s side can consider themselves unlucky to go down after their performances in the last few games of the season. However, they can only blame themselves after their horrific performances for the majority of their season.

The tragedy surrounding Emiliano Sala after his signing in the January transfer window is sure to have taken a huge emotional toll on Cardiff’s players and fans, which has surely played a huge part in their failure to stay up but they should regroup and look to come straight back up.

Cardiff failed to find a proper replacement for Sala in January but they will have to consider one seriously in the summer. Mbwana Samatta would be a phenomenal signing for them and his inclusion will give them a huge boost to make an immediate return to the Premier League at the end of next season.

Samatta has been a real star for Genk season up front and he has at time been unplayable in the Belgian top-flight. The Tanzanian has scored a sensational 32 goals and has provided 6 assists in all competitions in a stellar individual campaign.

A real fox in the box, almost all of Samatta’s goals have come from close range from where he is as deadly a finisher as they come. He almost always seems to get into the right place at the right time to finish everything that is fed to him.

The 26-year-old thrives when he plays on the shoulder of the last man and once he is through, he seldom misses to hit his mark. His composure in a one-on-one situation is as good as anyone in his position.

Despite not being the tallest, Samatta is a real threat in the air and has somehow manages to sneak the ball in from a corner. His movement has been quite impressive and Cardiff will be lucky to have him up front next season.

Conclusion

Cardiff need to return to the Premier League in their first attempt to continue their progression under Neil Warnock and signing Mbwana

Samatta would give them a real push to achieve that next season. The Bluebirds should go all out to beat Boro to land their man in the coming weeks.

Have tbh I've become really sceptical about any striker we bring in now. Havent had a top striker since Jay Bothroyd/Michael Chopra and that was 8-9 years ago. Hopefully if we do bring in Samatta he will prove a hit but its not the easiest position to play in under a Neil Warnock set up.

No matter who we bring in if we want them to score goals then we must change our style of play and not play a lone striker.
