one of the reasons martyn was that someone preffered to go golfing in portugal.
back then vincent tan and dato would not back the deal because firstly it was a lot more expensive than it is now and also they had to priorotise the debt situation.
you have seen the uproar this last week over the signing when the malaysians have plowed in in excess of ten million could you imagine the shit if we signed him then with the tax bills, motherwell, charlton and sunderland all chasing us it would have been commercial suicide.
We also owe a debt of gratitude to eugene son of vincent tan for this deal going ahead as i believe he has turned into a fanatical city fan and was instrumental in persuading his dad to back the deal when it was still in the balance.
