The Malaysian Tour .

Fri Aug 20, 2010 4:02 pm

Looking back with hindsight and from the info that Carl posted this week does anyone else agree that the only reason the tour was called off was because the efforts to sign Bellamy back in June failed ? Think about it he would have been a massive crowd puller in Malaya without a doubt and the locals would have flocked to see him play BUT without him then what indeed would have been the point in travelling all that way ? Makes you wonder now :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

If we'd gone out there with all the bad news surrounding us in June we would have p1ssed on our chips.

By next summer we should be stronger and well you never know, maybe a division higher.

That will be a fantastic opportunity to raise our profile, and the Malaysians could also rightly say they had a hand in our promotion (if achieved).

one of the reasons martyn was that someone preffered to go golfing in portugal.
back then vincent tan and dato would not back the deal because firstly it was a lot more expensive than it is now and also they had to priorotise the debt situation.
you have seen the uproar this last week over the signing when the malaysians have plowed in in excess of ten million could you imagine the shit if we signed him then with the tax bills, motherwell, charlton and sunderland all chasing us it would have been commercial suicide.
We also owe a debt of gratitude to eugene son of vincent tan for this deal going ahead as i believe he has turned into a fanatical city fan and was instrumental in persuading his dad to back the deal when it was still in the balance.
