The huge problem Cardiff City and Swansea City fans will face next season

Supporters from Cardiff City and Swansea City face long midweek journeys next season
Swansea City fans face over 1,000 miles of travelling for away games played on a weekday
night.



The Swans have four away league matches scheduled to be played on a Monday-Thursday evening according to the fixture list which was released this week.

Those matches will see Swansea fans travel 1,316 miles getting to and from those games, as the crow flies.

That’s the longest distance for school-night games of any travelling support in the Championship.

The four games that Swansea are currently scheduled to play on a midweek evening are QPR on Wednesday, August 21 (320 miles round trip as the crow flies), Charlton on Wednesday, October 2 (342 miles), Huddersfield on Tuesday, November 26 (334 miles) and Fulham on Tuesday, February 25 (320 miles).


Cardiff fans face the next longest total at 1,166 miles.

The Bluebirds face mid-week trips to Millwall on Tuesday, October 22 (272 miles), Brentford on Wednesday, December 11 (250 miles), Huddersfield on Wednesday, February 12 (324 miles) and Preston on Tuesday, March 17 (320 miles).

Brentford fans face 1,074 miles on the road for mid-week evening games, while Wigan supporters face 1,002 miles, Bristol 888 miles and Huddersfield 870 miles.

Could have been worse for us.

A few seasons ago we went to Middlesborough midweek - less than a hundred went if I recall.

Also there was Newcastle away on a Friday night and Sunderland away was also a midweek game in the Chopra era.

With all mid week games live on sky i cant see many travelling with the exception of the Brentford game.
