Leeds United and Cardiff City target will leave club as Aston Villa, Fulham and West Brom battle for £20m star - Championship transfer rumours

Sunday 23rd July 2019

Here are the latest Championship transfer rumours with 56 days to go until the window closes.

Wanted winger to leave club soon

Reported Cardiff City and Leeds United target Jamal Lowe will leave Portsmouth this summer, according to reports.

The 24-year-old winger has been linked with a host of clubs over the past few weeks, including the Bluebirds.

Footlball League World report Pompey are now resigned to losing arguably their best player and they will now try and hold out for a fee of over £3m after rejecting a previous £2.5m bid from Millwall.

Fulham eye Gayle

Fulham are reportedly ready to spend £20m on Dwight Gayle.

The Express are reporting that Scott Parker is desperate to land the striker this summer, as he plots a return to the Premier League for this side.

Gayle scored 24 times whilst on loan at West Bromwich Albion last season, but is reportedly hoping to remain at parent club Newcastle United.

Aribo set for SPL

Charlton midfielder Joe Aribo is reportedly close to signing for Rangers.

The 22-year-old helped Lee Bowyer’s side win promotion via the play-off final last season, but the Wembley win looks to be his final game in an Addicks shirt.

Aribo has previously been linked with Arsenal, but a move north of the border now looks to be his next step.

Albion offer youngster first contract

West Brom have offered Louie Barry a three-year deal.

Barry turned 16 on Friday and for the first time under UEFA rules, Albion have been able to offer him a one-year scholarship followed by a two-year professional contract.

The youngster is one of the rising stars in English football and has been linked with a move to Barcelona.

Wigan bid for Everton full-back

Wigan Athletic have made a bid for Everton’s Antonee Robinson.

The left-back spent last season on loan at the DW Stadium, and Paul Cook’s side are hopeful of Robinson returning on a permanent basis this summer.

Robinson made 26 appearances for Latics last season.

Powell set to join Potters

Stoke City are set to sign Nick Powell in the coming days.

Powell has decided not to renew his contract with Wigan following three seasons with the Latics.

The 25-year-old made 88 appearances scoring 28 times in a three-year spell at the DW Stadium.

Championship trio set to bid for Colchester star

Hull, Derby and Bristol City are all preparing to bid for Colchester midfielder Sammie Szmodics.

According to the Mirror, all three will submit bids this week, as they look to strengthen their respective squads ahead of the new Championship season.

The 23-year-old scored 14 goals in League Two last season and is valued at around £600,000.

Agree.
Don’t know why but I’ve never been keen on him.
Great striker, certainly at Championship level, but I’m not sure he’d ‘fit’ with the current team. Think he may be a bit of a big time Charlie.

Its same every season some championship club will spend £15m+ on a striker who is good in championship but fails in premier league? Secret is to find decent striker and play to his strengths to get best out them we have a couple already but will NW use them? Better to use money in positions which are more beneficial not £20m on one player
