Cardiff City are NOT believed to be in negotiations over a move for Bristol City striker Famara Diedhiou.

A report from Get French Football on Wednesday afternoon suggested the Bluebirds were of several clubs "actively engaged in discussionps" over a move for the 26-year-old, along with Championship rivals Huddersfield Town.

West Bromwich Albion and several other Turkish sides have also been credited with an interest in the Senegalese forward, who's reportedly valued between £8m and £10m.

However, sources close to the player have played down suggestions of a move away this summer, claiming that the forward has returned to pre-season training and is looking forward to the campaign ahead with the Robins.

Boss Neil Warnock has made little secret of his desire to bring in a striker this summer, adding that the club could be set to scour the continent in order to get the right man in.

"We're looking at all the foreign markets as well as English and if we can get somebody, possibly more at a good age rather than an experienced player," said Warnock.

Genk striker Mbwana Samatta has once again been mentioned, although a move looks unlikely given that the player is understood to prefer a transfer to the Premier League.

Good, because I don’t think he’s done enough to justify the price tag, but saying that, he’s probably better than the strikers we’ve got, worryingly.

Not sure if he is any better than what we have got. He scored 14 in 44 games last season and 13 in 36 the season before. That is about the same rate of scoring as Zohore and Ward in the second tier and even Madine would probably have scored that amount for Bolton if we had not signed him. Obviously Reid scored plenty more for the same Bristol side. No point signing someone of the same standard as what we have got.Would rather spend the money on a quality midfielder.

He's not as good as what we've got so I'm glad that wasn't true
