Saturdays ref

Was meant to do it yesterday but forgot.

Often we jump on here to criticise refs when they have a bad game but I have to say Saturdays was very good. Played good advantages and let the game flow

Completely disagree.

Thought he had a terrible match.

He was better than most British refs which isn’t saying much as their terrible. Though the linesman that gave the foul for Flint when he did nothing but Stoop and head the ball away in the first half. I have literally no idea what he thought happend even their player who was on the floor looked confused that he had somehow won a free kick.

The only poor side of his day was his communication with his assistants. He let a reckless (dangerous?) challenge go unpunished in the second half but, apart from Warnock, none of the other City playeds reacted too much.

He gave us fouls and throw ins when they weren’t ours. He gave Luton a corner which they scored from which wasn’t a corner. He played about 3 minutes ontop of the original 5 despite it being Luton who did the time wasting and not us.

He was below par for both teams. He wasn’t awful, but he the referee(s) in general definitely didn’t get everything right. Obvious things too, but there we are.

Having said that, he did allow us to win the ball back and counter with it when some referees definetely would blow just because they don’t understand football and assume it’s a foul. I particularly respected his know how to play on when Murphy was through.

In the context of an individual refereeing performance you have to say it was below par.

In the context of the whole of the championship and premiership refereeing officials, he was exceptional and would want him every game.
