Bony training with Newport

Mon Aug 12, 2019 10:27 pm

Wilfried Bony: The Premier League striker and League Two side Newport

He's a 30-year-old international striker who just five years ago signed for champions Manchester City for £28m.

But now, without a club after being released by Swansea City , Wilfried Bony is training with League Two Newport.

He played four times as Ivory Coast reached the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations this summer - a tournament he won in 2015.

In a social media post Newport boss Mike Flynn said it was "great" to have Bony training with his players.

Flynn added: "Excellent work ethic, professionalism and standards. Boys will take a lot from this."

If he is a free agent and obviously still living around here, he may not want to move away. Is he worth a punt. Or would he want too much?

If he’s fit and can find form then he’s probably a perfect Warnock forward.

Not sure I’d want him here though

I would think most prem and championship managers know of his situation so if he not offered something somewhere there must be some sort of issue.

I wonder how much his agent paid Flynn for that media 'professionalism' and 'work ethic' quote. His careers washed up. He needs to go abroad or Scotland. Could see someone like Rangers taking a punt maybe.
