The Cardiff City player ratings as defensive stalwart struggles but Josh Murphy shows promising signs
By Glen Williams

Here are the player ratings after Cardiff City's 1-1 draw with Fulham

Alex Smithies 7

Had to cope with a barrage of shots from Fulham's front three and largely stood up to the task. A solid outing.

Lee Peltier 6

Had to deal with a number of attacks down his wing but did so well, with the help of Whyte.

Sean Morrison 6

Kept Aleksandar Mitrovic quiet for large portions of the evening and was cool under pressure with the ball at his feet.

Aden Flint 5

Played the killer pass for Murphy's goal, but other than that was aimless with his distribution.

Joe Bennett 4

A difficult night up against Steven Sessegnon and Ivan Cavaleiro. Also sloppy in possession at times, which is unlike him.

Leandro Bacuna 6

Physical, abrasive and did his utmost to disturb Fulham's midfielders. Stuck to that task earnestly.

Joe Ralls 7

Another steady performance from Cardiff's most consistent player. Tenacious in defence and creative in attack.

Lee Tomlin 6

One otherworldly pass to play in Glatzel, other than that was unable to inflict as much damage as he would have liked.

Josh Murphy 8 (Star man)

A performance that was much needed by the winger. He needs to add more goals and he will hope this is just the start.

Gavin Whyte 7

Bright, lively and looked the most likely to create something early on. Yes, he might lack quality at times but a real team player.

Robert Glatzel 5

Had one clear-cut chance denied by the goalkeeper. Would have loved to have got the monkey off his back by scoring.

Callum Paterson (on for Tomlin 64) 6

Hustled and harried when he was brought on, but could not find the end product.

Junior Hoilett (on for Whyte 64) 7

Another encouraging outing for the winger, looked dangerous with his crosses after being introduced.

Nathaniel Mendez-Laing (on for Murphy 81) 6

Brought on late and played a lovely ball in to Glatzel, but the striker couldn't convert.
