Brexit Party Candidates in Cardiff

Postby ElyBoy1984 » Sun Sep 08, 2019 10:17 am

Anybody know where i can find a list of Brexit Party candidates for Cardiff? Tried their website but can't find the list.
Want to try unseating Labour's Kevin Brennan from his Cardiff West seat. He's voted to block brexit all the way.

Why would a Welshman want to vote for what is an English Nationalist party regardless of Brexit. Would the Brexit Party stand up for Wales? You’re having a laugh

That's a deft response. A lot of people aren't so tribal and are happy being British. Furthermore there are, believe it or not, people that want Brexit to happen. What they going to do? Vote plaid??

You've got more chance unseating him by voting Conservative and even then you probably wont get within 7,000 votes of him.

I agree with you, but as Eddie Butler (of English parents) told the thousands at Merthyr on Saturday "that Britain that his parents believed in doesn't exist any more." It's now all about England isn't it?

It's not the English nationalist party. Lol it's a party in favour of national sovereignty.

The EU has a plaque up at the European Parliament's Visitor Centre which states: '...national sovereignty is the root cause of the most crying evils of our time…........

Why would a Welsh man vote for mass immigration enforced on them by globalists in Brussels?

Not so daft. Let's face it large tracts of Wales have been anglicised and the lines between Britishness and Englishness are blurred. It is very easy for some people to confuse the two. British TV is overwhelmingly English TV and British news is almost totally English news. Large parts of the population don't think too deeply about such issues, many take things on face value, so it's easy to see how it's possible for some to have confused identities and that could be an explanation for how so many Welsh people (and Wales is historically socialist country) could possibly vote for a right wing English party.

Giving him some credit though. He's in a minority of labour MP's who can actually claim to be voting in the majority interests of the constituency which in his case voted to remain. Increased his majority last time with a swing from the Lib Dems in the main. Even though that will probably go back and more its a big ask for a leave party to get anywhere near the seat.

Labours all out assault on property wealth will raise a few hackles on the avenues of Llandaff, Radyr etc for sure, but it wont be enough. In fact I'm not sure people are fully aware that the next " council tax " bill dropping on the mats of leafy left and liberal Cardiff could well be for £ 7,000 and more. And that's just the start. There's a total lack of attention to these proposals in sharp contrast to Terreza's Mays 2017 proposed for care for the elderly which was rammed down our throats morning, noon and night. In my view the Broadcast Media in particular want a Corbyn Government.

Good on you if that's the way feel though but start with an aim to get 10 - 20 registered to vote who may not other wise, although you cant of course be sure which way they'll vote. The young seem particularly hoodwinked into thinking that Europe is the holly grail and ignorant of the fact that in much of Europe the youth are getting a particularly raw deal in terms of opportunity an employment.

Wales is a Brexit country.

I doubt that very much judging by the number of people I know who voted leave but now want to remain now that they know the facts which indicate that Wales will suffer more than most.
Also, the fact that Wales gets the majority of its news from English sources it's no wonder that we voted in line with England. Scotland, which has it's own independent news sources voted hugely differently.....probably for that reason.

Have you been there to see it or did you read it somewhere?
As if obvious now Brexit is all about English nationalism, sovereignty, 'getting our country back' etc etc.
Brexit won't stop immigration from outside the EU and that's the problem and expect more when if we set up trade deals.

I have seen it, it does exist but it is unfortunately being misappropriated today on both sides.

The statement was made back in 1939 foreboding the Second World War.

Lord Lothian was correct back then and the words do ring true through history for many nations, ours included.

It suggests that alliances amongst nations will stop any future evils but it is now also seen as the EU's intention to eradicate national powers.

Immigration will be controlled by "our" parliament after Brexit. We then get the immigration policy that we vote for.
Mass immigration won't be imposed on us by globalists in Brussels, who want nothing more than cheap labour or even something more sinister.

That's true.but there will be suprises in this election, hopefully champange socialist and brexit blocker Keven Brennan will be one of them.
He has a 12,600 majority that the Conservatives with an approx 27% vote share need to over turn.

The UK can apply a "temporary" handbrake on e.u. migration but the keyword is "temporary"
Free movement is one of the 4 pillars of the E.U.

Also the ECJ (European Court of justice) upheld the EU’s "right" to force member states to take in refugees.

The E.U. are also trying to pass law that make criticism of immigration policy a hate crime. Therefore illegal.

I'm not anti immigration at all but mass immigration for cheap labour benefiting globalists in Brussels. A different matter.

And where does the sovereignty lie post Brexit? London, England. Not with the Welsh people.

Hence the tag English nationalist

Welsh independence will never happen.
We are either governed by London, where politicians are more scrutinised, accountable and transparent.
Or by Brussels where national identity is a hinderance to their over arching programme.
Wales has a better chance in Britain free of the E.U.

Cardiff voted 40% leave 60% remain.

Kevin Brennan was a teacher at Radyr from 1985-1994. I'm not sure if he was a good teacher or not.
In 1994 he quit teaching for politics.

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newsto ... -home.html

He also voted against enquiries into the iraq war.

People who would never have classed themselves as Welsh Nationalist are now "indy curious" including me. I went on my first ever political march on Saturday in Merthyr and it was such an uplifting day. Probably 10 times as many has those that turned up for the English Nationalist Party AKA Brexit Party Rally in the same town. The Independence Movement in Wales is Internationalist. It's not about shutting the world out. When Scotland votes to leave and Ireland becomes united (Both in my view are inevitable) do you really think Wales will want to be "Greater England"? Wales has suffered so much over the last 20 years. At the same time Irelands economy has grown from half the size of Wales to Triple the size of Wales (or thereabouts). Can Wales afford to be independent? The real question is "Can we afford not to be?"
