Warnock this season to be fair gave the players a right

The lowest point of the season was when they shipped three goals in a woeful performance against Reading at the Madejski Stadium. The Bluebirds were feckless, rudderless and, in truth, it could have been far worse than 3-0.

Warnock subsequently called off training and ordered the players in for a dressing down. A good, old-fashioned telling off. And it seems to have worked.

The Bluebirds have gone from conceding seven goals in their opening three league games to shipping just three in their last four. With Etheridge, Bamba and Pack all pushing for a starting berth soon, it certainly appears to be going in the right direction.

Also, a note of praise for Alex Smithies, who, since taking the gloves from Joe Day after the opening-day defeat at Wigan, has improved to no end. He now looks assured and is visibly growing in confidence. He will provide stiff competition for Etheridge when he returns.
